On my E46 BMW I broke a plastic elbow in one of the return lines to the fuel tank. I epoxied it back together but now have a check engine light for "evap system leak very minor." Any suggestions for some sort of sealer to try to apply from the outside to prevent me from replacing the whole line?

In reply to glueguy:

Original plasti-dip. The can type for tool Handles.

Edit: I take that back. The gas vapors may disolve it.

What does the elbow look like? You may be able to splice a new end on it.

The rule of BMW maintenance is that you're supposed to buy any necessary rubber or plastic before you actually touch anything. They're designed to disintegrate...for the environment.

If they outsourced rubber/plastic/bushings to the Asians, they'd be unstoppable.

Well, if they outsourced engine controllers to Toyota, anyway.
