Has anyone on here ever used a seat belt locking clip (like these https://www.amazon.com/Sungrace-Metal-Lock-Silver-Pack/dp/B0797KBGD5/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1545343094&sr=8-3&keywords=seat+belt+locking+clip) to lock down their seat belt after tightening it, so that you don't slide around your seat during autocross as much?

They're much cheaper  and simpler than a CG Lock. They might just be worth a shot.

Why not twist the belt?

Those are car seat locking clips, and yeah I've used them. They work okay, but not as good as the CG lock.

These larger ones worked better for a couple of bucks more.

I have always found that the seat belt locking mechanism that came free with the car works like a charm.

Those don’t lock the belt. They tie the 2 belts together (lap and shoulder) so they can function as 1 when buckling down a baby seat.

All modern seatbelts lock from the factory.   Just pull them out all the way. They will ratchet back in a locked position and not be able to be pulled out any more.

(That’s the proper way to use those clips. You pull out the seat belt to lock it, then clip the 2 belts together)

In a crash, a twisted belt can break due to the friction and stress caused by the impact.  I also used to do that until I was told by a crash safety engineer what happens.

The locking clips you show are only crash tested up to child seat weights. Autox, maybe OK. Not for track use.

My dad invented the CG-Lock. It is crash tested in the lab and in the real world. The company has now closed so supply is limited to what is in stock at retailers, FYI.

Find a CG Lock. They're awesome and the best thing for this.

Good choice. I've got o e on the mustang and it's great. Hate to hear they're gone.

I picked up a ~$7 set of clamps from Harbor Freight that are designed to pinch off hoses & use one of them. In the Miata I can put it up at the seatbelt tower, so it locks both my lap & shoulder belt.

I may be dense here but what does CG Lock do that a hard pull and lock using normal seatbelt mechanism won't?

My procedure for the track is basically going back a little on the seat, pull the belt tight and lock it, then tighten it further by moving the driver's seat forward.  This usually results in a really tight belt everywhere (to the point where I get a bruise on my shoulder from how tight it is at the end of a track day, which I've subsequently alleviated with a belt pad).

Not doubting potential benefits, but just wondering how it compares vs. my existing "setup."
