No, but its not the answer on this one.

Kids cuffed and stuffed in the back might be a selling point of the p71.

I think one of those turbo volvo station wagons might be pretty cool. You get the space for all the stuff and a peppy 5 cyl turbo to move it.

We went through this same question as I came to the realization that the STI swapped '98 Subaru wagon was just too much as a family DD. We looked at the mazdaspeed 6, mazda 5 and CX7 last weekend, and took a 2004 E46 touring (manual) for a drive Thursday...and bought it on the spot. They are not a large car, so you need to choose the child seats carefully, but it's a fun to drive (not fast, per se). My heart wanted an E39 M5, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that kind of financial commitment right now. DIY or otherwise.

Eh, it's an old thread, but hey, it's an interesting topic...

I'll throw in the Infiniti G35. It's available with a manual transmission, and as both a 4-door and 2-door model. Reviews seems generally positive, with most gripes having to do with a cheap looking interior on early models. Owners seem to gripe about occasional oil consumption problems, but that's about it, and the issue doesn't seem widespread. I like my coupe. It was completely under my radar until I drove one.

I'm not suggesting this as a superior option, but as an additional car to fit into the conversation.

Not true, the IS300 is availble with a 5-speed. The back seat is pretty compact if you want to put a rear facing child seat in it though...

I think he was talking about the modern IS-line. The IS350 nor the IS-F are available with manuals.
