Must be nice is one of my absolute least favorite sayings. Maybe it's a living nightmare where you get to drive that as your only consolation.

Factory side dump exhaust! That thing is crazy.

How can you tell? I can't see the exhaust. But assuming that window in the rear hatch rolls down, you need side exhaust. If you have rear exhaust and drive with back window open it sucks your exhaust inside the vehicle. I nearly gassed myself hauling 2x4s in my wrangler because they were hanging out the back with all the other windows closed.

Sorry, found the side dump by looking at pictures of other ones. Like here:

That's factory! And YES on the roll down rear window wisdom. I made a 6 hour drive once in my Samurai with the rear window open and spent one night having fun then the next 2 days throwing up then got better just in time to drive back home. Never made that mistake again.

Interesting fact, on ALL G waggen that are non AMG (Standard G550), exhaust comes out rear exit (under bumper, behind rear wheel) . Only the AMG has side exhaust pipes (in front of rear wheels), and had them forever.

However, the portal axle equipped G (4x4 squared), even the lowly non AMG (G550), has side exhaust pipes.

G waggen doesn't have rear windows that roll down.

My FJ Cruiser, I use a ventlock to pop the rear window out 6 inches, since mine is is a 7 seater FJ Cruiser. FJ Cruiser also has side exit (not as cool as G waggen before the rear wheels), or rear exit. mine is a rear exit, and at stop lights you can smell a little exhaust at times in traffic.

IMO, the side dump placement is stupid for the "extra off-roady" model.  In actual off-road use, exhaust right in front of or behind the rear wheels is begging to get smashed on a rock.  It needs to sit further inboard, idealy a tucked-up-tight rear dump.

In my location, the only ROCK a 4x4 squared will see, is one from Harry Winston.

Mine has a rear facing third row seat. It can be faced either way. Seth (mazdadeuce) on this forum, hooked it up for me and I am forever grateful.

That is not a Squared as the OP posted. The G waggen is everywhere. The Squared and the 6x6 are rare.

There is a $100,000  difference between a G and a G squared.

OK.  I've seen an AMG version running around here too, but it's been a while.  Probably like last winter.

There is AMG version of the regular G which is $147,000 . Regular G is 127,000$

Squared which is different, STARTS at $230,000 +.

G has 9 inch of ground cleareance. Squared has almost 18 inches of ground clearance.  Portal Axles is the key difference and one of MANY.

Don't forget the g65 which is also over 200k,  but looks like the g63.

I chuckle that it has to have  a drop-down bumper to make it legal (pretty sure that's a factory piece)..

That may even qualify as a Mansfield bar.

Huh. I was not aware of the squared version. Learned something new. Impressive hunk of machinery.

All stereotypes about the driver aside, I really don't see the point of that at all.  Plus it's as ugly as a '73 Chevy Suburban that crashed into a Ford Country Squire.

I guess it's probably a pretty nice thing to be inside, where you don't have to look at yourself.

You may be onto something there because I have a few old 70s Suburbans too.

The G wagens started in 79 and carried the same basic body/platform until 2018, so the comparison to ugly, utilitarian SUVs from the 70s is pretty accurate.

Yes, but 70's Suburbans somehow manage to pull off being "not ugly".

I like my 80s utilitarian box (this one isn't actually mine)

yeah the Squared is really impressive and extremely capable. Then again I am 1 of 2 (other one is a current owner), members on this forum that love the G waggen.
