I had contemplated keep the rear parcel shelf and brackets....
but they are a bit tattered, and I'm beginning to like the idea of 2 seater with a 5 foot enclosed bed...
Again... with Jesse's help we got the board mounted just as I had planned. The old seat belt mounting points have been filled with RTV, along with RTV sealing the stainless lag bolts. The top needs a bit more "adjustment" in a few areas, but It should be completely built and installed by Monday.
As for reinforcement, I've decided on using 3/4" wide strips of the same plywood glued, and screwed to the underside of the top sheet. This will provide a 1 1/4" thick sheet of plywood 10 plys thick.... I'm pretty sure the strength of the hatch and top should not be of a concern....
Not lets see how well it turns out.....
