I went to a Trackdaze event at Summit Point this weekend. Had the usual collection of various types of cars there. But these two caught my eye.

the white one would stand out far more if he cleaned the yellow out of the 6 lamp covers and polished them. a hour or so worth of work, and it looks like 2x the car...
nice rides for sure though.

NICE! a real Shelby GLH-S at a track day. Love the wheel/tire package and stance.
The R/T is nice too. I owned one that made over 250hp (when it felt like it). Kickass 16 valve, turbo, 2.2. And with Koni's and Eibachs it handled pretty good. This one's in dire need of a wheel/tire package Those wheels SCREAM 1980's....
Trackdaze puts on a good event don't they? Been to quite a few of their's and really enjoyed myself.
Hal, were you driving this weekend? I was there with my black RX-7 #64. Had a few interesting experiences this weekend ;)

except it wins based on the name alone...For those who dont know, GLH = Goes Like Hell...seriously thats what Dodge/Shelby named it
I LOVE THOSE

Basically was a scaled up Rabbit. The earliest ones used VW engines and transmissions, and even the front A-arms were interchangable.
Yep, the GLH was built to beat the GTi. Chrysler and Shelby set the goals to be 10% better than the GTi in all of the measurable categories. Which it was.
Unfortunately, it didn't have the styling or the build quality to back it up, so people bought the VW's instead.
Of course the odd part was that the earliest Omni and Horizon used VW 1.7L engines (along with Peugot 1.6L motors) because they didn't have the 2.2 quite ready yet. Of course the carbureted 1.7 in the Omni made slightly more power than the 1.7 with the CIS injection in the Bunny. ;)
I was heading back to Birmingham from Atlanta Saturday afternoon and saw a truly badass first gen GTI. All in basic black, flat black primer, black wheels poking out of fender flares, windows tinted a touch.
He got a big thumbs up as I went by him, it was just a really sweet looking car. Gave me a case of "I wannit".
I love the GLH's. There's a guy who runs a body shop near me that drives an old Omni that looks stock as can be and is absolutely cherry. Every time I see the damn thing I get the urge to see what he'd sell it for and what kind of engine I could stuff into it. I'd be far better off putting the money into my existing Miata, but that's not how project fantasies work now is it?

Tecnically it was the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point. Plenty of grass there

First event of theirs I have been to but it seemed to be very well organized.

Nope, I don't get out on the track any more. I just go over to support friends. I was there with my neighbor (#94 944S2 who was instructing) and a couple friends ( #147 SVT Focus and #9 WRX). I end up over there at least once a month helping somebody I know. My neighbor is a PCA instructor so he goes over there frequently. In fact, we were over for a PCA event today and again tomorrow. Then I'll take a break, four days in a row are enough for at least a couple weeks.
