Hey guys.
On the Exocet I've had to install a bunch of grounds to the frame. I bought some specific "self tapping screws." They only appear to have a 70% success rate.
Is there a "nut-sert" style no weld solution for more cleanly installed grounding screws?
Is there a better "self tapping screw" I'm not using?
Any other input?
Thanks
I like Tek screws for grounding: http://totallynutsandbolts.com/tek_screws.html
I have one of these from HF- and they work great- http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/hand-riveters/3-in-1-riveter-kit-94100.html
Even found which drill bit is barely big enough for the threaded insert- so it's nice and tight.
Weld studs on the chassis for the best answer. If you want riv-nut type application, you can get a stud type. The problem with riv-nut type installations is they have another surface to keep in contact to the chassis. Corrosion can start in a place you can't see or service...

I weld screws upside down on near-by chassis tubes and presto

Yeah, that's what I suspected. My welder is half way across the country, but now needing to do some exhaust work and this I might just get a cheap-oh harbor freight one....

Obvious good solution is obvious post discover, lol.

Good option, I was using "generic" self tapping screws. I might just order some of the real deal if I don't weld in studs or nuts.

Thanks for the recomendation!
I generally use 10-32 rivnuts for small grounds on my race car. I do clean off any paint where it's going and put a smear of sealant around it after. They've all been perfect for ~5 years.
