Insane how the Civic dwarfs the S2000!

What's really insane is that the Civic is only about 250 lbs heavier than the S2000!

The CTR is substantially bigger inside, in every measurable dimension. It has a back seat, a huge usable trunk, all the turbo plumbing, tons of additional features, giant 20" wheels, huge brakes and drastically larger exterior dimensions... yet only a 250 lbs curb weight difference. Honda did a great job keeping the weight down on the CTR.

That could also be a comment on the weight of the S2000 :)

Congrats! You can't do Jeep stuff in a Tesla, and there are few better places to do Jeep stuff than Colorado.

Well played, sir! I always thought Honda could have cut the weight on the S2000 by a couple hundred pounds. I prefer driving it over both our NA and our ND, but you can definitely feel the extra heft. I think the X-bone frame, the factory roll hoops (legal at HPR!), lots of stamped steel and the electric roof are the big weight adders.

Thank you, sir! Only one problem with owning the Jeep: it instantly becomes a "project" and forces me to decide if I should throw money at it (lockers, bigger tires, etc) or if I should sink even more cash into the NA Miata. Different kinds of fun, but both are a hoot to play with!

I have no interest in modding the CTR or S2000 and the ND belongs to the wife, so it'll be staying stock as well... otherwise, I would have already swapped out the suspension on the ND!

The S2000 has a lot of great attributes, but it's definitely a little porky. A friend had one and pulled off the stock exhaust system. It was spectacularly heavy - but high compression engines are hard to keep civilized.

About modifying the Jeep - the aftermarket for those is ridiculously strong and very appealing. But it's one of those things that just lets you get further before you get stuck or fall over. I'd be careful to keep it streetable. As it sits right now, it can get to all sorts of interesting places without any trouble. You'll always be able to find an obstacle you can't get through, but it sure looks useable at the moment.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

I plan on trying to keep the Jeep streetable. It's got 31's on it, factory rear Dana 44 and LSD. Drives pretty well, even if I do need to crawl underneath it and replace a couple seals. I figure I'll play with it this spring/summer and find its limitations before I start sinking money into it. I don't think I'll ever justify bigger axles (it came with d30 front & d44 rear), so I can't see ever running anything bigger than 32's or maybe 33's, with a mild lift.

Long term, I've got much bigger plans for my NA Miata. Being that you guys are only a few hours away, the wife and I really should try to make it out to FM Summer Camp this year! Assuming it doesn't get canceled.

I believe that leaky seals are an attribute that Jeep has copied from Land Rover. It's how you know they're not empty...

Summer Camp 2021 will be virtual.
