Not mine, no affiliation, etc etc etc.
My dad bought one of those new, it was fast and fun to drive, really unreliable and badly made though lol. At 175k miles it was on its 3rd or 4th power module, at least 3rd alternator, second transmission, needed its second cylinder head, etc.
Thats too much for that car.
Unfortunately since Shelby died some people seem to think these cars are worth more. To me that's an $1800-2200 car. Maybe they would sell it for that if there was cash in hand.
Rusty floors... what a surprise.
I don't think I've seen an 80's FWD Dodge with clean, rust-free floors yet. If you want to learn how to do body work and how to fabricate metal, buy one of these cars. I'm still learning how with mine, and my friend is a pro after buying his "rust-free" '85 GLH.
Very cool and rare, but yeah, that's about $1800 too much for that car in that shape.
I wonder how many of those are left though. Im 28 and I have only seen 3 ever. I have only seen 2 of the charger ones, one was found in a junkyard wrecked and put back on the road, the other is a nice looking one for sale in Independence CA for almost $5k.
I dont think the price is that crazy when you look at what the special parts go for. At least $250 for the konis, $250 for the valve cover, $400+ for the wheels, Maybe $100 for the steering wheel, $100 for the gauge cluster, $50 or so for the 2 piece intake, and the list goes on. Still would need a lot of work to make it nice though.
I had one behind me on the highway the other day, he got impatient, blew my doors off and then faded into the horizon.
I just sold a 86 GLHS recently for 3k which was just in slightly better condition than that one..
It ran though... and ran well.. +20 injectors. 3 bar map 18 psi of boost ect...
well.. it ran well until the new owner got a hold of it..
I basically just got 2500 out of a rough but nice running 87 GLHS..
and oddly enough.. I was snapping some pictures for a guy... and didn't catch this until long after the fact..
do want, and this is 20 minutes from me. But won't get....
can check it out if someone else is interested, but [probably not for a week or two.
$50 or so for the 2 piece intake,
Try $250.
Some of the shelby specific stuff like you were talking about can bring a LOT of money, but it really depends on condition and you being able to verify the condition and convince a buyer of the condition. So if the stuff isnt in good condition its not worth that much, and if it IS in good condition you still have to find the right person to buy it for very much.
