I ran across this photo on Pelican and I thought the Corvair was interesting. Wondering if any of the Corvair guys here have ever seen anything like this before.

Yup. I have seen a few pics of them. I have seen that one before somewhere. I have also seen a few versions of early "shorties". (a convertible and a coupe).
I guess it is done because it is comparatively a lot easier to do then on a "normal" car. Thus the reason you see the shortie VW buses also.
Not sure what it does to the driving dynamics, but I am sure it is interesting (the wheel base of a Corvair generally makes it less apt to swap ends quickly then a 911)
Also on the subject of Corvairs, there's been a really ratty looking gold one stranded on the Airport highway 475/23 overpass since about 12/30.
I've seen this one in person out at Hershey:
It had a cool "Jetsons" feel to it. There was a ton of work put into it to make it look like a production piece. Notice the side trim. The door is open in the pic, but it flows smoothly around the whole car.
While I was talking to the owner/builder a couple guys walked by. One said to the other "Looks like it was picked before it was ripe!" The owner & I both laughed.
Rumor is, if you drive something like this you have some issues; penis envy among them. What's it say about a guy the drives a Stubby?

This is a shot from a recent Porn awards valet area (pretty brave wearing shorts, don't you think?):
