Just curious as I'm not familiar with the story...were they driving aggressively or indulging in other jerk-like behaviour? They're car got handled btw. People's curse fo' sho'.

They were driving like jerks for sure, while I was spectating between stints their drivers buffaloed their way several times at the chicane almost causing crashes. Yeah, I know it's racing but this was STUPID. There's other stories floating around as well.

In our case, the final straw was a pass under yellow which is documented on YouTube. I can't link from work because of the NetNanny, just do a search for 'Salazar yellow pass' and the vid should pop up.

Meh. If you can't be famous, be infamous. I can't tell how much of what these guys were saying was serious or tongue-in-cheek, which is a fun game to me. They were blatant smart-asses for sure, but I can appreciate that. Their strategy of walking around the first night, handing out beers, and asking "SO, who are you guys voting for?" was cute. I don't like beer.

Seems like they had a pretty good attitude about their car being crushed, which is noble.

<---was cursing them that weekend, but tries to play devil's advocate.

So they set out to become Peoples' Curse and succeeded. I can appreciate the 'fun' thing.

BTW, here's the yellow pass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WZh6GxDe9Y&feature=channel_page

Trust me, they didn't set out to be anything. And they didn't have a good attitude about their car being crushed after the event.

Well, their page reads that way (of course that was after the fact).

I got the giggles about the 'only 145 rwhp' and 'brown coolant' bits; yeah, sure.

Was it just a single corner caution for the guy in the escort who went off?

Jensenman

No, it wasn't. If you watch the whole vid, you see the yellow at the corner before the straight. The pass is made before the chicane, then after the chicane there is another yellow at the worker station at the end of the straight. It's hard to see in the vid because of the size but if a driver is paying attention on the straight the yellow at the far end is visible before you get to the chicane. Had it been a single corner caution I wouldn't have said a thing.

Fixed.

Yeah, anyway, they did totally drive like dicks and deserved to get their E36 M3 crushed. Our buddy Tom accidentally got popped for passing during a caution because there was no one watching the track. Oopsie. On a happy note, his hot Marshmallow Fluff / Chicken Salad sandwich was tasty.

I'm up to my armpits in getting this stoopid BMW 320i together. Everything is coming along beautifully...if you ignore the fact that the freakin' motor still isn't running. I must be close...I had a big backfire & exploded a squirt of starting fluid out the intake. Flames are sexy!

I've got a week to get my money in for the team for Lemons South...I'd better get a check in the mail...and find a K-Jet expert fast!

If you've got fuel to the injectors (should dribble continuously, as I'm sure you know), I'd bet you have a vacuum leak. K-jet is really funky about vacuum leaks.

Also: check the cold-start injector.

I replaced all the easily reached vac lines, Tim. It's cranking beautifully & will cough & sorta run for a couple seconds. I have fuel going into the fuel distributor just fine (pump is pumping), but I've not pulled an injector off to see them drooling. It's almost as if it's trying to fire JUST on the cold start injector. I saw a used fuel distributor on eBay the other day...I think I need to find one & see if that's the ticket.

The plan was to have it running before putting the cage in, but I'm short on time & running out of projects.

The car really only needs a cobbled exhaust, an adjustment of the rear drums, the cage install & seat & belts.

Someone earlier was talking about cubic hours... I've got that invested for sure, but thanks to selling off parts, my $400 car has earned me back almost $150!

Our garage doubles as our camp spot and with the weather in SC in the spring, I think that we need the cover. We got 3 teams in this year. Two taxis and our car with the American Flag all running under the Schumacher Taxi Service banner.

What's your team name?

Well crap, we didn't get any letter from jay yet. I hope this is jsut some meaningless delay.

At any rate, I too was black flagged for passing under yellow under dubious circumstances. The blue Opel (great driver, btw) was racing wheel to wheel with me when the yellow dropped. We paced each other for two corners. He shrugged at me, I shrugged at him, he pointed, I went, I got the black flag.

At any rate, the chicane thing was ridiculous, the whole passing 30 cars in a row to get to the chicane first was just bad taste in my opinion.
