as I am sure.. everyone is aware I have a fiat spider.
I am entertaining the idea of using one side of sidepipes (sidepipe?) out the passengerside like on the Seven. I would alter the sill some to tuck it in close..
what do people think?

Awesome. The outer sill is cosmetic only, right?
I've got a 124 Spider, too, and an uncorked exhaust on that little twincam is sweet.
Matt
yes it is.. and the inner is three pieces.. I am thinking I could cut away the outermost inner later and reinfoce it.. and that would tuck the pipe up close to the bottom of the car.
And yes.. the Fiat TC is a screamer uncorked. I ran one for years with only a resonator and a resonated tip. was quiet until 3000rpms.. and then it sounded like a pure race car. Nothing like an uncorked italian engine

Something like this.. bad Photoshopping here...
Had a Spider as my first car (and want anther someday), and I think it's a great idea. I don't know what the previous owner of mine had done to the exhaust, but it was much more open than stock. Quiet below 3k and a snarling monster above it. Just be sure to warn passengers before climbing in.
Why not Y-pipe it and go for dual lake pipes? Why scare the people on the curb when you can frighten children to your left also?
Dan
well, honestly, if I drop a lancia 16v head onto my spider's engine.. that will move the exhaust to the driver's side.
That is not inside the sill it is just the tip coming through the sill due to lack of clearance, V8 Supercars have done that for years.
sad to say, this is not being done for aero... after all, much like any roadster, the Fiat has all the aerodynamics of an open brick. This is done to simplify the exhaust and for looks. I always liked the single pipe on the 7
On a older car with a smaller motor its not as cool as it sounds. Stuck in traffic your huffing fumes, not installed right burning something it should not.
Plus I have a pretty nasty scar on the back of my left leg from my cobra that bit me one day.

You'd never hear anyone say that about a Camry...

Yeah, they'd be too busy screaming as they accelerated out of control.

Its all fun and games until you realize its your clutch leg and you have a full carbon un-assisted race clutch.
But chicks dig scars.
I am waiting for the viper to bit me. I have gotten close and burned a pair of jeans and my shoes melt on longer runs from the stupid low flow cats.

You have a thing for overpowered Shelby coupes, don't you?

Its a sickness. I am actually looking at a ACR in white/Black/Red Gen IV right now. My wife is pulling for another 356 though, or a daytona coupe from FFR.
