I found a 86 Z28 (the guy said its an IROC but I'm not convinced) on CL for $500....so I bought it. My wife looked at me looked that too. It got a 305 w/ a Q-jet on a Eddlebrock Performer RPM manifold, headers, and a 700r4 tranny. Its in kinda ruff shape. But other than the bolt-ons seems to be stock. can't tell whats been done to the internals but the engine seems to have been rebuilt fairly recently...just not sure what was done or just how long ago.
I want to use this for my challenge car. I'm not sure where to start or what the best bang for the buck mods are. Can some of you point me in the right (or at least close to right ) direction.
Thanks
Dave
Looks like you're already headed in a good direction, strip the interior, fab up an awd system and have the coolest z28 ever
talk to some cicle track guys and score some spring and sway bars fot it.
The T-tops leak so the interior is kinda funky so it has to go anyway but I thing fabing an AWD system is beyond my abilities,
My wife likes goin to the East Alabama Motor Speedway. I wonder if I can get her to spring for pit asses.
NAWS...How much I can add without breaking something I don't know how to fix?
Yep, this is goin' to be fun.
Now the wife wants me to fix our daughter's 4-wheeler (chinees built POS) (it seems to have a fuel delivery problem ) and fix the a/c in one of the Hondas before I spend money on the Camaro. Well that won;t stop me fron gutting it.
Thanks
Go check the CMC forum for a great list of parts that come in and out of the regulations
Actually, they're farm animals that double as an alternative to pit bikes.
Apparently I can't type. Oops
I think y'all realize that should have been "access".
I don't thin I found the correct CMC forum. ...there's some weird stuff out there.
Hot Rod magazine used to have budget build up articles, but it has been a while since I've seen a copy of that magazine.

I thoughts 'asses' was a typo for 'passes.'
Didn't Hot Rod build a 3rd Generation z28 for a $200X challenge?
