Yes. For example, the Enkei RPF01. But most fit. Any Miata specialist should be able to tell you if the wheels you are considering will fit or not.
Hrmm.. interesting.
Don't know how easily i'll be able to find out if the MS-03s will clear, since i've only found two cars that have run them. Go figure!
Thanks!
PS: Think the NB Vmaxxs will be in stock again by say... the 22-23rd?
Oh wait... just saw that you guys are closed on Saturdays. Guess i'll have to make sure i can get out there Friday.
July 23rd we'll be at the track. If you want a ride in the Targa car with the race suspension and the V8, that would be a good opportunity. Or the LS1 MG, it should be there as well.
I don't think the V-Maxxes will be here by the 22nd. It's possible, but pretty unlikely. It's all in the hands of the less-than-organized shipping company and the opaque customs service at this point.
Hrm well that sounds like fun, too....
Well we already briefly talked about dyno time, so i'll give you guys a call this coming week to set that up, and i'll have to see about hanging around for an extra day to bum rides in awesome cars!
Should any of the bracing products be considered necessary equipment?
Not so much on an MSM. They're pretty solid.
Yeah, saw that the Butterfly Brace wasn't really necessary on these, but the Cannon or Frog arms not as effective on these as earlier models either?
Frog arms, yes. I don't consider them necessary equipment on a 4-cylinder car but they do stiffen up the front.
Mazda did address the structure of the car over the 16 year lifespan of the original platform. The rear subframe brace on the MSM is a big burly thing, the fourth iteration of factory braces installed in that location. The Cannon can still be installed, but is not likely to make a big difference with the existence of the factory part. Nowhere near as much as on an early car with no subframe brace at all.
Keith, does a guy weld those frog arms on?
Nope, they bolt in. I like to describe them as seam-welding without welding. It's a fairly clever idea.
could I though? I mean, is there any reason I'd ever want to remove them?
If you're pulling out the welder, just seam-weld Lots more work though, the sealer is a pain in that area.
I don't see any reason why you'd ever want to remove them. I don't think they cover up anything you'd have to access, just the unibody.
Bad news, the MS-03s do not clear the MSM brakes.
If they were a 3-piece wheel, no big deal, but they're 2-piece, so it looks like that isn't happening.
Bumping this up...
Think i'm going to go with the Enkei NT03+Ms.
Now the issue... 7.5" wide wheels, not as wide as i wanted, but hey, you do what you can.
Would putting 235/40-17s on those wheels be a horrible idea?
