So almost 8700 miles on Walmart 5W20 Synthetic and no wear. The amount of fuel I expect, expecially with the cold on now and the way I drive it Got to say, I'm impressed with $17 for a 5-qt jug synth oil. with the base number there, 10k would have been fine, I just choose to err on the side of caution.

Side tracking a bit here. I thought the oil analysis thing sounded like a good way to monitor the health of my race car engine. I could keep an eye out for bearing wear and such every year without a tear down. At least that was my thoughts. Sent a sample to B. Stone for a base line and the results didn't give me the feedback I expected. They told me it was because I run leaded race fuel and that mask the results. So much for that idea. :(

You needed a better lab. I see aircraft and race car engines all the time with high lead. If I know what fuel you're running and you do consistent sampling to get the trends we can definitely help with what you are looking for. It helps when we have a tick over 6million samples in the database to help us with wear analysis.

Besides, if they're only looking for lead as your bearing material you are doing it wrong. True bearing wear will also have copper and tin along with steel from the journals.
