Sites for studying used cars

Forever I used Edmunds and MSN Autos for studying used cars. Both sites have now gone through and extensive redesign process which makes them useless.

So what sites do you use or you can recommend?

I usually use a forum called Grassroots something or other, can't remember the name off the top of my head.

Or Wikipedia.

I'm sad. I don't know how many times I've browsed Edmunds, digging up specs and stats on countless cars that I've never owned and may never own but was curious about. There are "consumer reviews" still available on Edmunds, but I'd take them with a grain of salt. It's disappointing that they had all this great info and then threw it away.

I already know what the GRM forum will say - Miata, E30, or P71. Next?

consumerguideauto is fine if you are looking for specs. Easy & quick to search through. Reviews, I never really paid much attention to them.

Ateupwithmotor is fantastic if it's old or weird. Sportscarmarket has some neat articles too for that sort of thing. if you're talking about a last gen Toyota Tercel, I have no idea.

The data on Autos.MSN.com was brilliant.

Simple direct and traceable.

I haven't found anything even remotely close.

Most of the stuff on MSN is still there, you have to go to used cars, and then compare. It looks a little different and is harder to get to, but most of the details are still there.

The data that Sultan is talking about is something that you can't easily get from a forum or ateupwithmotor. It was a nice database that listed all the generations of a given model and what motors and options were available for each one. It's so frustrating that they got rid of it. MSN Autos was one of only 14 pages I had on my bookmarks bar; it's going away now. The only reason I used it was for that data.

Wikipedia has some of the data, but nowhere near as much. It's also not in a nice list form. Hopefully someone has that data and it crops up somewhere. Now I wish I had pulled off all that data and saved it when I had a chance.
