I thought this deserved its own thread.
Cool idea but why wouldn't they use an off the shelf hotrod IRS for $4k plus a subframe?

The parallel, equal-lengh control arms certainly support that guess.

I think that they try real hard to dial in close to zero lean, as in trike mode that swingarm has zero camber change, and therefore lean = lousy grip.
Why? For one thing, a lot of track days don't allow 3-wheelers. For another: More traction. Not to mention better side impact protection. Also, why the hell not?
how do these things handle? there is one running around near me, it looks incredibly sharp looking, especially at night with the lights on
I wonder how it affects the licensing of the vehicle. In most states it's classified as a motorcycle, but if you put a 4th wheel on it becomes a car.
On the positive side, it looks well fabricated.

I first read that as "illuminate"...No wonder I couldn't see where they put the LED's.
I'd also not be surprised should you find yourself in trouble with the law and mva regarding the motorcycle status of the vehicle when converted to a quad. I'm sure a number of cops, as well government bureaucracies, would regard it as a car because of the four wheels. And it fails to meet the various requirements for a car.
Wow .. taglines like "Formula 1 inspired" and "it snaps necks" both have me hooked !!
On the other hand, I am not sure I'd classify an old Cincinnati vertical machining center as "state of the art" shop equipment ...
The site is blocked at work so I can't see all the details, but I really don't get it. I'm one of the defenders of the slingshot concept, I love it. Why take a $20ishK vehicle and add another $20K to it right off the bat for zero apparant improvement. I like Slingshots, and I see enough of them around that I think in 5 years they'll be dirt cheap. For S&G they look fun.
I like the slingshot too, I just don't see that place as the type of place that has the know-how to turn that thing into a four wheel track day car, or even a four wheel street machine (registration aside). They look like they used to make expensive codpieces for side by side.
Now if Cosworth or Lotus released this conversion and some complimentary front suspension changes to transform this thing, I might be counting pennies.
If you want to ride a unicycle for fun great, but don't sell me an add-on wheel to turn it back into a bicycle.

i could see that being a problem. Makes me wonder about the bikes you see with 'training wheels' since technically they have 4 wheels on the ground, but they are much more motorcycle then they are car still
