I ordered a set of new Sachs struts and bearings (lemforder [sp?] I believe) and just assembled them.

There is a bit of slop if I rock the upper mounts. I checked the old (orig I assume with 160k) ones and they did the same thing. It's not much but I didn't expect any. I can't really detect any axial or radial play.

It's a ball bearing so I don't know that it could be any better. The nut is sufficently torqued and the bearings turn smoothly.

I've not had experience with replacing these before so I have nothing to compare them to.

Thinking about it I think once they're installed I should be good but wanted any other advice.

When they have weight on them, there probably won't be any slop. They just facilitate steering rotation.

I know on BMWs usually a spacer and washer go underneath the strut mount, and one on top. There will always be just a little slop but you can tell the difference if you forget to put those in.
