I'm prepping an '88 325is for SM, I don't have a copy of the rules in front of me right now, but I believe they prohibit "offset bushings" except for the Control Arm bushings or factory crash bushings.

My question relates to the rear subframe bushings, E30s have a problem with negative camber and toe-in gain when lowered. I want to use shorter subframe mounts that help lower the ride height of the car, while not affecting the camber/toe curves as drastically. It seems to be legal as I'm not changing a suspension pickup point, ie where the rear trailing arms mount, and the bushing itself isn't offset, but it causes the subframe to be "offset" from its original location.

Legal? Or illegal because of the mounting point or another rule I missed?

I don't know, but as a former e30/SM competitor, I'm not convinced it's worth the effort.

We are going to drop the rear subframe anyway to replace the brake lines, mounts, RTABs and install the beefed up mounts for the sway bars.

So it doesn't seem like it would be that much effort to use shorter mounts and then space the diff back down.

What was your setup on your car?

superETA bottom end. 325is head. Megasquirt. Straightpipes. Fluidyne radiator with electric fan. lightened flywheel, manual rack, 4.10 lsd. H&R springs, Koni's, IE strut braces, eibach adjustable sways, 14"bbs's with nitto nt01's, braided brake lines with 750il MC. And most importantly, all the weight reduction I could get away with. I could bore you with lots of details but that's what I can remember off the top of my head.
