I remember that article and bought the cheap helmet that he recommended. I agreed with his opinions in the article but hadn't heard anything about fallout for him from it.

From 2015 on, their testing regime mirrors FIA, which is the world standard.
Motorcycle and car racing helmets are different animals and have different requirements. For track driving in a car in the USA, you need either FIA and/or SA Snell certification.
In reply to Peabody :
I have next to zero interest in motorcycles, but I always enjoy FortNine's videos. Great channel.
If the newest standards (Snell and FIA) have finally aligned as mentioned above, I'm not too worried.
It was only mentioned in response to what RichardNZ and jfryjfry said, and as general information regarding Snell as an organization.
In reply to Peabody :
It has nothing to do with us, it's an insurance requirement.
That may be true, but blaming insurance is also a good way to shortcut a long discussion that isn't going to result in any changes anyhow.
While on a trip to Cleveland, I stopped in Summit Racing to try on different styles and sizes. Wish they had more brands but this ended up being the winner for the $249 cost.
I thought you might go for a Simpson Bandit:
Or maybe a CH3NO2:
No Snell rating on these unfortunately:
In reply to GameboyRMH :
I did look at that Simpson Bandit, if I remember correctly it was 2X the price. Which if I could justify the cost with more than occasional AX/RX, it would have been an option. And obviously the others have a connection to my heart. Time to see how I want to decorate this one, AT-AT driver again or something different.
Hete's the deets on the new SA2025 testing changes and the timeframes to purchase new helmets.

Apparently there were some changes made to the impact testing. Looks like new SA2025 helmets can go on sale in October of 2025 so for those of us waiting it looks like more....waiting.
