I picked up a Snug Top Hard Top for my NA Miata in a matching red color last fall for a song. At least I think it was a song, I don't really know what the Snug Top version of the hard top is worth VRS the OEM hard top. I don't drive my Miata in the salt season up here in Wisconsin and I love top down motoring so the hard top is really only getting 2 months of use on the car. Now that I what to put the top down on a nice day the Snug Top needs to go in storage, or on someone else's car. Whats a fair asking price? It is in nice shape with a little scratch here and there.
I'm not sure what the current market is for them but with OEM hardtops in nice condition apparently going for $2k+ I would think you wouldn't have a hard time getting $1-1.5k for an aftermarket in good shape.
I had both a Snugtop and a 2003-ish Mazda hardtop. The fiberglass on the Snugtop was actually nicer, but the headliner and the latches on the Mazda piece were much better. I think they used the same glass.
I sold both for the same money, but I liked the Mazda top better.
I think that at this point in time, people just want a hardtop and will pay hardtop money for any hardtop.
Snugtop has been making truck caps forever and they are a good company.

I sold a Snugtop in January 2021 for $1200 here in AZ. It was in excellent shape with nice paint (I had repainted it back in ~2016) and new seals. I didn't have the latches (which are junk anyway), but sold it with a set of Garagestar SM style brackets.
If the paint is decent, I would think you could get $1200-1500 for it depending on your local market.
Thanks for the information fellas. I sorta hate to sell the thing, and I love the way it looks with the hard top, but I put the top down every chance I get. The main reason I'd keep it around is I'm too cheap to buy one back if I wanted one later!
I'd say about 75% of oem currently so yeah $1200-1500. The one I had was nicer fiberglass, nicer headliner, heavier, but awful latches. Once in place, couldn't tell the difference from oem other than the rear feet over the Frankenstein bolts.
EvanB, Rodan, and johndej's assess-ments are spot on. Certainly you could get a buyer from the Chicago burbs to pay top $$. I haven't seen anything under $1,200 for over a year. Just like prices for NAs have skyrocketed; so have the hardtops.
How about one of or both of these instead of selling. The hardtop increases the value of your Miata

I have both the hoist and the hardtop cart. Each has its good and bad points. The hoist is great for lifting a heavy OEM hardtop off the car, but I never liked having the 'hardtop of Damocles' hanging over the car, ready to do damage to both if anything went wrong. Which means you still have to store it on the cart or some other place. The cart is pretty handy, and I use it often to store my race hardtop when I need it off to work on our NA. It still takes up a lot of space in the garage however.
I originally bought a hardtop for the aerodynamic improvement on track on our NA. When I switched to a race top, I debated keeping the hardtop for our street NB, but ultimately decided to sell it. One of the primary reasons we have a Miata street car is to have a convertible, and the ease of flipping the top up and down is a huge factor in why the car is so much fun. Many times, I've driven just a few miles and then decide that the top needs to be up/down, depending on circumstances, and the change can be made in 10 seconds at a stoplight. Not possible with a hardtop.
The closest to perfection, IMHO is the NC PRHT... best of both worlds, but we don't own one anymore. If I wanted a coupe, we would probably have a different car. If we had unlimited storage space, I probably would have kept the hardtop. But it wouldn't have gotten much use.
YMMV.
