My prediction: cute show stand fodder that doesn't have a hope of seeing production in any way, shape, or form. What will we get? New decals for the Compass that better brag of it's Trail-Rated-ness and the new Grand Cherokee.
Mother Mopar has bigger fish to fry than producing something like this. We might see that Ram Moab whatever they call it, the Raptor fighter, which is going to be a lot easier to produce fast, vs. this thing, which might as well be called the Jeep SSR.
This is not the first time we have seen a pickup style prototype variant on the 4 door wrangler. If you ask me, that could be a big hit. Gee, how long has the US been wanting either a CJ6, Scrambler, Troop Carrier style Jeep?

The J8 is sold to militaries worldwide, with a diesel.. just not here. http://tinyurl.com/yhgeyz4
That front end looks quite awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing a few running around in place of hundreds of jeep wranglers.
Looks like a modernized version of the old military 5/4-ton Jeep-Kaiser truck. Doesn't mean I wouldn't rock it though.
I drove a similar military version when I was in the Guard. Very old then and it handled worse than a JP151.
Google the Jeep concepts at the Easter Jeep Safari. They built some nice stuff this year.
I like the Ram and the J7. The J7 is a stripped down 4 door wrangler. No carpet no fog lights no nothiing... Just Jeep.
http://motorcrave.com/jeep-wrangler-j7-another-mopar-militar-style-off-roader/6023/ I would buy one
J7 seems like something easy to clone at home, although I would leave the stereo, just replace the speakers with "marine duty" jobs so they can get wet and not be ruined as fast. But I don't know if they could sell it in decent numbers at increased margins, and that's what they need right now; products that are easily engineering and produced based on current designs that can be easily sold to the public at increased margins. How many off-road crazies are going to line up for this thing and pay them a premium for it?
That said, that any Wrangler comes with carpet in the first place seems silly to me, a hose-out interior should be standard with these things.

Like the Viper, right?
Knurled: Chrysler is in slightly different financial form these days.
I'm not sure how I would go about betting on this but I would put down a dollar, a donut, etc that this thing doesn't see production in any way/shape/form in the next three years minimum.
That thing is sweet! That's what the H2 and 3 should have been. Heck, they stole the 7-slot grille, why not make good on it? But then again, it's GM so they don't make good on much.....
That may be the most awesome truck I have seen in a long time and the only new Jeep I could see my self rocking.

Ones a halo car, one could be seen as a low spec almost loss leader. Two entirely different ends of the spectrum.
If they make it I think it will sell but not in any sort of numbers.

Hence the name Nukizer == New Kaiser

Yes but the point is, as you say later in your post, that jeeps shouldn't have carpet. See I want the functionality of a 4 door jeep but I don't want all the sissybooboo stuff that a modern jeep brings. I want a stripped down vehicle that, much like the rwd light fun cars we as sports car enthusiats lust after, are not commercially viable.
Plus, a stripped down jeep would be cheaper. Ever price out a 4 door wrangler.. Holy CRAP!

if there were no carpet, then wranglers new core market (17 - 23 year old girls) wouldnt beg their daddy to buy them one please o please o please! Be a real man, buy a bombed out 86, drop an efi 4 liter in, weld up the rust, and wheel it like you stole it. Nothing says manly more than rolling a crapcan back onto all 4s and driving home. Cant do that with a rainbow hawaiian lei from the senior lunch hanging from the rearview mirror!
could always do what cessna does.. make the carpet come out with velcro hold downs. That way you can have your civilised jeep and with a pull, remove the carpeting to go offroading
