I guess that is a definite solution. I didn't want to get all up in your grill, but this thread is full of great info. I will say that I have found a truck invaluable since I bought mine, just by the very nature I am a car guy. The beautiful thing about trucks is that they are durable, so even ratty versions are good enough to do lighter towing with. Renting will be a pain, been there, done that, but if it works for your situation, it works for your situation!

the nice thing about towing with an automatic is when you have to maneuver the trailer at very low speeds. Left foot on the brake, right on the gas. slipping clutches are for the birds.

But then, I was called a heretic when I suggested using an automatic for plowing snow.

I just rented a Ford Ranger for all day Sunday from a site called Relay Rides. Several sites out there like it where you rent other peoples' cars, pay for gas, etc. Seems like an interesting solution for an occasional need for a truck, so we'll see. Best thing is it's about half a mile away.

Total cost for the truck from 10 AM - 7 PM Sunday is $24. That's about the cost of an oil change on a beater truck, and I don't have to buy it, pay insurance on it or figure out where to park it.

I'll post back with my impressions, but I'm hopeful that this will work. I'm always wishing I had or had access to a truck, but have nowhere to store/park one.
