Local East Cobb, One owner, 133K miles. Mint.. I mean Mint Condition.. White on Gray, full service records by RBM Atlanta. Guy wanted 4995 for it, got it for less than 4. It drove like a dream. Yeah,, the big V8... Owner, 70 year old, bought a CLK.
E30 will be picked up this weekend. Plans are for my Son to drive it until he matures over the stage.
It meets Mom's requirement for AirBag. It can also serve as our emergency vehicle and "date" cruiser. Did I say Mint? Not one lick of wear in the interior, and the body is perfect.. Just needs a little wash/wax. Everything works..
YAY, ME!
and your son gets to drive it?

Yup! It's bulletproof and he won't be street-racing in it.
I'll be finally getting the Mr2 ready for DAILY BEATER duties for me.
The best mod you can do to the 400e is the swap in the 500e diff. The 400e came with super tall 2.24 gearing. The gas mileage is surprisingly good with the stock rear end.
Dang you weren't bs'ing about the air bag huh? So has air bag... Check.... ( forget it has 100 more horses and twice the torque) but it has airbags right? Check! Sounds about right
Thats a great buy. I always liked those cars.

I'll load pics this weekend when I finally pick it up.
Woo hoo.. It can also fit several tools and wheels in the boot and serve as the rescue vehicle for track events in the Mr2.
In Germany they used to tow also, right?
Unless it's already been done, you will want to look at having the timing chain and upper guides replaced. They always start to make noise between 100-150k. If you get past 150k the chain is on borrowed time, and the M119 is an interference motor...so just keep that in mind. I would look through the records and see, major boon if the PO did it.
Otherwise, sounds like a nice score. Though the 500E is the "big V8" if you want to pick nits
Way to go! I have a '94 E420. It's my second W124 and I adore it. Weird that an auto 540i didn't push my buttons but the E420 does. It's muscle car-esque, but is comfy and fun to drive. :)
Worthless without pix....

Just saw this. This must be your first male teen with a car/DL. LOL They all race anything they get into. Just so you know....

What's the deal with those cars? I see tons of them (and 300E) for sale these days for cheap (sub 2k). There is even one (92 400E with 130k) with a broken timing chain for sale right now. Is this an interference design? How much of a pain is it to fix?
I'm usually more a fan of the earlier models, but the sheer quantity for sale is making me curious.
Oh yeah, pictures?
