As I posted last week I have decided to sell my FJ60 . I made a little progress towards that goal today when I picked up its replacement, a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban. It is a 4x4 Z71 that is fully loaded and as far as I can tell is a one owner truck. Here are some pictures of the truck from the copart website that I bought it from.
It has 180k miles, and has been a southern truck its entire life (South Carolina). I ended up picking it up for $2150.00. I caught a ride up to Savannah this morning and drove it home. It drives great and I had no real issues on the drive south.
I took it straight to my friends body shop and dropped it off to get the front end damage repaired. He is charging me $1000.00 to fix everything. I had to buy a bumper for $109.00, a new grill for $72.00, a marker light for $17.00, and a headlight for $32.00. A new windshield is $180.00. My friend gave me a passenger mirror that he had on a crashed Tahoe behind his shop (Score!).
Baring any unforeseen surprises I am sitting at $3560 for a nice tow vehicle.
Rock on! Congratulations. It's pretty hard to find a more comfortable way to tow!
That's a LOT a truck for that money no matter how you look at it!

Nice score! You should get plenty more miles out of that. Check that the spare tire carrier is greased up before you need to change a tire, the cable and latch mechanism sometimes get frozen up from road sludge, hopefully where it is a southern truck it will be clean. I had an 04 Yukon that hands down had the most comfortable seats I have ever had in a vehicle, it had close to 200k on it when I sold it and it was still running like a champ. They tend to have some electronic/gadget problems at that age but other than that are rock solid reliable.

Wow, nice score! It looks like the tires are even fairly decent on it!

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it has set of brand new 265/70/17 Bridgestone Duelers installed. They still have the rubber nubs on them.
The only negative, that I need to address is the truck had its cats stolen while it was sitting in the storage yard. I was less then pleased when I picked the truck up and it sounded like a lawn mower. I brought this to the attention of the copart manager and she informed me that I was more then welcome to not buy the truck because the missing catalytic converters were not disclosed. I told her that I wanted money off the price but she said the only option was to not accept it. Obviously I decided to keep it.
It sucks given what I do for a living to be the victim of crime, I see it everyday but this is the first time in awhile that I have been a victim.
The same buddy who gave me the mirror said I could have the Cats from the wrecked Tahoe, so this negative is easily corrected.
I have a 2003 3/4 ton and love it so far. Mine however has lots of rust and the interior sucks. Runs great though. Great score
That's nice. Boss has an 01 that looks like this one's twin. The trans finally gave out at 320k miles.
I have an 04 2wd suburban 1500. I love it especially when towing. I have never been a gm guy, but after spending some time in imgon's Yukon xl I was sold. I needed to replace my dodge passenger van, so I started looking for a suburban. I found mine on Craigslist at the beginning of winter a few years ago and everyone around here didn't want a 2wd truck. I scored a great deal and the truck has been mostly trouble free. Nice score!!

Nice find! My family has had a string of tahoes and suburbans since the mid 1990s; they're great trucks.
Nice, I keep trying to talk my wife into a Suburban but she keeps saying no...
