And I loved it. It's an '08 328i Coupe 6 speed, 134km. Now the best part is it has full Bilstein suspension, an upgraded exhaust and adjustable camber plates. I drove it when the roads were wet and it needs new tires but oh yeah it's good.
Now after owning a R56 MINI I'm not sure if I want to get back on the CEL train. How are these things for reliability? I'm going to see if there is any history on this car. As far as I know it's accident free but has probably been autocrossed, which is fine with me. Anything else I should be looking for?
Best part is it's right wheel drive!
A friend of mine recently bought an '06 330i with 200k; so far its needed an alternator, some interior trim pieces, and a passenger's seat airbag sensor.
Water pump and cooling system. Get the records if you can. Being a car guy he may have kept up on all that.
DI engines will carbon up the intakes ports and valves from the PCV system w/o fuel to wash 'em down. DIY blast w/ air compressor, pressure pot and walnut shell for around $300 vs $800-1K dealer. BMW makes a intake port adapter for the N54 w/ shopvac and media blast ports.
Install a OCC after that. See Burger Motorsports.

The N52 in the 328i that the OP is considering is port injected, so it won't need carbon cleaning or a catch can.

Buy mine. It has more engine and has not given me any trouble apart from runflat problems that have been solved with Michelin PSS. I ran a can of crc DI engine valve cleaner through it, and it maybe feels a little more lively.
We have the 2006. I can't remember the mileage but say 90K. Daily driven for 20 mi R/T stop-and-go commutes. The budget for repairs works out to $2,000/year, ever since it went out of warranty.
Some of that could be luck of the draw. I have a 2009 X3 with the same motor, same use, but about 60K miles. Total budget for repairs has been the cost of one coil pack.
