Haha!! Just called my buddy who bought it off of me, planning on getting it this weekend!
To refresh memories, its a 1976 Fiat 128 Coupe, and was recently found out that it is an Abarth through decoding the VIN. Has the 1300cc 4 in it, flared fenders, gutted. Needs some work, but its so awesome to have it back in my line up! I'm planning on fixing some rust, paint, cage, motor rebuild, some various other things. Ill try and get some pics up when all the paperwork is done..

1976 was the 3P, not the SL Coupe. And there were no Abarth 128s. So besides that, what other stories should we be prepared for
Chris H.
thank you for that. Its not a SL Coupe, i was just stating its a 2 door, and ive been told that it is a Abarth. Looks like i need to do some research.

It could be a 128 Rally, which is a 2-door with some unique features, like a different front grill, extra lights, and stripes etc.

Scroll down about half way and look for the yellow 2-door. That is a Rally.
Hope that helps!

So, is the Yugo based on a 124 or a 128?
Yugo is a Uno built in Yugoslavia. But it is not short or slang for the country. I believe that it is a type of wind like Corrado.

The Yugo is not a Uno. The Yugo is essentially a 128. 128A series engine, suspension, brakes, etc.
Back in the day, Zastava (parent company) produced a version of the 128 since the late 60s. The Zastava Jugo (Yugo) was a new model for Zastava, but shared much of the basic mechanicals.

Well, in Reality, the Uno used a lot of the 128 stuff too, so it could be said that the Yugo and Uno shared some stuff. Fiat was particularly good at sharing components across a broad range.
Sorry, but the 128 Rally wasn't in the US until 78, so most likely it's just a 2dr that's been doped up....
still a cool little car though.

So...it's a 128 sedan with the stock 1300 and an Abarth decal?
Still, it can be made into something:
There's an awesome blue one on flickr but I don't think it will let me hotlink the images.
Tiny, but tight-knit group of owners lurk at www.mirafiori.com.
You had me all excited. I thought 128 coupe with flares!
They are even nice without flares
But the sedan is a different story altogether.
Sedans are even more awesome in my book. Something about a quirky euro family car that just begs to be driven in anger.
The difference between a coupe and a sedan according to ASAE is interior volume
Coupe equals less than 33 cubic feet (.934 cubic m).
Sedan is equal to or greater than 33 cubic feet
One of my pet peeves is folks calling every 2 door version of anything "coupes". The VW crowd always calls 2 door Jetta's "coupes" when they are not. Fiat is a great example of the difference between a coupe and a sedan. Take the 850 for example

This really just an excuse to hotlink some awesome fiat pics

Thanks, Ddigger!
I've never forgotten how much fun I had with my 128SL, but those pics really bring back the memories. Those flared SL pics are now part of my stored-images file!
I hate you now, btw.......
Sounds like it is time to get your tetanus shots up to date and jump back into the world of fiats
I used to own a couple of 128s, including a very nice low mileage 128 sedan. Probably a four door, though.
Even though it only had 1100cc, it wanted you drive it everywhere like the Mafia/police (delete as applicable) were after you. It was even the same shade of revolting green as the one in ddavidv's post.
