After reading the thread about the changes they made.

I threw in a few cars I always search for and found 1997 BMW 5 Series.

Hmmmm . . .seems like the usual stuff. But I clicked the little "info" icon beside it and it told me:

Six speed . . . at Pull A Part?? My luck is that car is probably picked clean . . . .

Glad my luck was wrong!!

Six speed trans + Turner short shifter + driveshaft + misc goodies = $150!! I couldn't get the flywheel as I don't have the special BMW tool to remove it.

I like the new Pull A Part site . . .

Isn't that special tool called a Milwaukee Sawzall?

I wish it was that easy!!

Dual mass, monster flywheel has T50 bolts buried down in there . . . The Bimmer tool (~$30) is needed.

It would be nice to bypass that 35lb lump and get a 13lb LW flywheel . . . But they start at $800

Wow, the six speeds are rare birds. I almost bought one a while back, but talked myself out of it because it was white.

In reply to Brett_Murphy:

Bmw stated 50% of all e39 540i are 6speed, so they arent all that rare buy in the junkyard yes, all I ever see are auto 540s. Awesome snag man.

I plunked down 70 smackers for the BMW flywheel bolt tool . . . Made quick trip to the yard at lunch and returned home with a $25 flywheel

Sure beats $450 for a new one or $800 for a LW unit.

Link to the original thread? I can't find it.

I really dislike the new website. It's great that it shows trans type and such, but no searching multiple yards or spans of model year, WTF!

When I do a search, it gives me the year I put in as well as all other years under that model.
