I'm hoping it's the above ad opposed at the CX4. The claim is that they're going to "blow the lid" off of the show. Hopefully that means coupe.

I'm hoping for a 6 coupe, personally.

So what do you think the odds are on it having magic spinning triangles?

I wouldn't hold my breath. More likely than not, it will be the CX-4/6/7/whatever. The new Skyactiv 2.5 turbo mill has some interesting potential applications, though...

Some are saying it'll be the new PRHT ND...

That defeats the purpose of the 6, in my opinion. I prefer it with 4 doors.

I think most marketing divisions have a different idea of what "blow the lid off" means. I'm betting it is a variant of a current platform, not a rotary that's getting 40 miles to the gallon while making 300 HP. That would blow my lid off.

I'm a tall guy with no kids who has to drive a crap ton for work on a regular basis. Is it really so wrong to want a mid-size coupe option that isn't a Honda?

Wishful thinking, I know, the segment has basically evaporated, but I think the 6's lines would work for it as a coupe. That rendering looks awesome to me at least.

The PRHT would be the least surprising reveal possible. A coupe would be very surprising. A look at the Miata's history and sales numbers would indicate why.

Well blowing the lid off of would be synonymous with surprising. One can hope.

"blowing the lid off" sounds like Nissan taking a CUV and making it a convertible.

Let's hope this is not that.

You could also innocuously rephrase "blowing the lid off" as "very quickly taking the top off of," and if we take that thought literally and look at Mazda's product portfolio, a PRHT reveal seems almost obvious.

Or maybe we'll just get a CX-5 Roadster to do battle with the Murano CrossCabriolet.

EDIT: Robbie beat me to it!

"Blowing the lid off" is only part of the teaser. It was accompanied by some origami. Subtle.

There's an irony in a prht nd, I have a single functional arm, my left, and in have no issue in operating the ND's brilliant soft top latching mechanism from either seat using just said left arm.

I never saw the PRHT as being about ease of top going up/down, more about getting coupe look and a quieter ride when driving with the top up.

It's not like they've ever given an MX-5 coupe a chance to be a screaming sales success.

That's the history part. They've always shied away from it for various reasons - don't want to interfere with the sales of the RX7 or RX8, mostly.

As a 26 year owner of Miatas, a PRHT does not interest me in the least. Now the coupe, that would get me into the dealership with cash in hand. Please don't tell me Mazda has stopped reading my mind.

Keith how much weight does a prht nc add over the soft top, what about regidity? (Did I spell that wrong? Looks funky) anyways I would love to see them make the nd a true coupe but if that was the case wouldn't they say they are putting a lid on the auto show instead of blowing the lid off?
