I'm deploying to afghanistan soon (late may, early june). So the 3000 I was going to spend went in to a laptop and an iPhone , when I get back I should have north of 25K 10-15 of which will go towards a car
So no new cars but a year from june what would you buy
My thoughts are
C5 FRC, maybe Z06?
TT300zx
and GO!
First, good luck in afghanistan.
I've always been a fan of the TT300xz. I'm also a fan a fan of the 3rd gen RX-7s but they tend to have a weak engine from everything I've heard/read. (But, an LSx swap fixes that problem.)
The c5 z06 is a great car. But.. Rally cars own; STI?
Good luck overseas and thanks for your service.
Corvette FTW. American as apple pie
C5.
jwd - It will be hard to do an LS1 FD for $10-15k
Damn, good luck to you.
I would buy a Caterham, Westfield or an Ariel Atom. Might as well make it fun!
Ohh lots of good thoughts, yeah them spinning triangles leave me cornfused. M5 awesome thought, atom ehh sounds like fun but really unpracticle same with the caterham. I had a wrx that I modded so it might as well have been an Sti...fun but I think I'm over the compact thing.
good luck overseas C5 or zo6 would be a good choice.
Yeah I think I had my mind made up before I posted LOL. RWD and 2 doors are key maybe a 6.0 gto, though I'm not too keen on them considering I've never driven one.
So what would you guys look out for on a corvette? What are some non obvious things to look out for on a c5?

GTOs are sweet, period, interrior was much more 'european' than any corvette I've ever been in (excluding a C6). If I could have I would have on a 6.0, it's a ridiculously understated car, only downside is the fuel cell in the trunk, makes useful trunk space sparse, but the fact you can haul 4 people comfortably (the back seat was nice even on me at almost 6' which is rare in a coupe...
+1 on the GTO.
Even though now that that price is low, you see them EVERYWHERE!!
I think I've got my heart set on a c5 though a year and some change from now, who knows. But at least I have a nice budget to work with, payment free to boot

Thank you for your service. God Bless, stay safe.
Send us some photos of Afgan hot rods...
Dude, stay safe and try to post once in awhile so we'll know you are OK.
And yeah I'd do a C5 too!
I will post as often as possible, I was on a lot in Iraq so, here's to hoping.
C5 sounds awesome, then I see this in the Classifieds when I get my latest mag
Six-river.com The Focus based one seems cool.
Edit: yes I know it's not practical
