He seems pretty dead set on getting the newest/nicest 3 series he can afford, thanks for the suggestions guys!

Would he consider a C6? That said, the newer 3 series are very nice.

Reliability on those from everything I have read is horrid. Was looking for the wife but yikes. Both consumer reports and truedelta don't have good numbers for them.

Don;t dismiss the 1 series. Especially if it is only ever him and maybe a single passenger

He's going to go sit in both tomorrow and see which he likes.

yamaha, I don't think he wants to mess with the turbo cars (even knowing it will be a much better performer), he cares more about "sporty-enough" and nice.

rotard, not a bad suggestion, but I don't think he's interested. He already dismissed the idea of the Z4 because it was a two-seater.

So he picked up a 2009 328i convertible today. Only 27k miles, super nice car, drives great.

His truck had started the check engine light, leaking oil again, just a few days after the band-aid fix.

He test drove a C-class, G35, IS250, TSX and the 328.........the 328 was his favorite by far.

Only negative I see is the reduced trunk space with the hardtop retracted, but it's a damn fine automobile.
