This past weekend, my wife and I spent 3 days at a fancy pants resort/winery called Chateau Elan for our second anniversary. It was very much her kind of place, with spas and winery tours and wine tastings, fancy french cuisine, fluffy robes, big soaking tubs (and big whopping prices) yaddah yaddah yaddah. After an 8 hour drive south from Cincinnati, i was fully prepared to put on a smile, grit my teeth and ""enjoy"" this place with my wife...I figger, she puts up with my crap all year, I can stand one weekend of out of my element for her. So, as i am unpacking the car, amongst the serene landscape and manicured grounds, attempting to console myself that it will only be a few days, imagine my amazement when I hear the decidedly awesome note of a completely uncorked V8 roaring at WOT?!?
initially I think that it mustve come from the nearby freeway 211. Alas I was mistaken as a few moments later I hear a similar sound but a bit higher, then again but a bit lower. over and over in fact I hear it and it really sounds close. Well now I was good and confused. I thought this was gonna be a boring weekend of quiet relaxation, but Im clearly hearing high octane goodness, and its being used for fun, not transport. There is more to this story, but I want to see if any of you can guess where the baddasery was coming from. Heres a hint, GRM - or more specifically Classic mospo staff are not allowed to answer as they may have had a better view than I did.

If you never knew the proximity of Road Atlanta, or the ownership relations between the track and the resort, you should now!
Did you make it to the track, or remain emasculated for the weekend?
you lucky lucky bastard...
wow, didnt know you were in the area... Im guessing the badassness is coming from the Panoz V8s, thundering around Road Atlanta...
Did your wife know this by chance, and keep that as a surprise?
Ding Ding Ding...we have a winner...thought that mightve been tougher than it apparently was. No she had no idea nor did I about our proximity to Road Atlanta.
We saw about 45 min of SVRA on Sunday the 18th. I was hoping to see some GRM staff, but we were a bit pressed for time, so we just stood there and watched for a bit and then moved on. It was great. I have a few pics:
And there was some kind of sports car club meeting on the resorts grounds as well...heres some goodies:
I will from now on let the Missus decide where and when we go anywhere without complaint
I think you owe your Missus big time.

Nice. Very nice.
Is that yellow car a Callaway C12? You don't see many of those around.
Yellow car was a ZR6 or whatever the ZOMG new supercharged vette is...for once my eyes were stuck to a ford...doesnt happen often
my eyes would have been glued to that F430 Scuderia
Chateau Elan is owned by one Dr. Don Panoz, inventor of the trans-dermal drug patch, and...
Founder, Panoz motor cars. Owner, Road Atlanta & Mosport (and holder of the long-term lease at Sebring). Creator of the IMSA American Le Mans Series.
IIRC, Dr. Don actually created Chateau Elan first, sometime in the early 1990s.
