And someone driving a FRS pulls in next to us. SWMBO spends 30 seconds staring it down and then asks me "what is THAT?" (should have seen her face when I called it a frisbee!) Then proceeds to rant for 15 minutes that she likes it, could see herself driving it, (but it would HAVE to be a different color) and how much do they cost?
Does that qualify as consent to bring one home?
Buying/building a house is priority #1 right now, but should I read that as yes we can have one of these?
Doing research on truecar and the FRS is about 1k less than the BRZ in our area, also the FRS seems to have much more in the way of standard equipment, fewer options etc than its twin. Not worried about a stripped down, competition car. Sadly other than an occasional lapping day it is very unlikely that it will be driven in anger much. It would be replacing her 02 4cyl s10, which at 170k miles seems to be needing 100$ worth of parts every pay period. Adding 50$ a pay period for something new, with 2 years of maintenance included with a warranty, combined with the slow depreciation of newer vehicles lately and I'm wondering what it would truly cost to drive it for a few years.

Yes.
(Disclaimer: Snow is not nor has he ever been in a committed enough relationship to have had a SWMBO... SWMostlyBO is the furthest he has gotten. So don't blame him if she makes you take it back)
Thanks snow, I'll take that disclaimer under consideration.
I will add this, our conversations on cars usually consist of the stereotypical one person talking the other going yeah, ok, hmm? Really etc... when it comes to cars, she wants one to run, not so concerned with lap times.

The subaru should hold its value better than the scion......because there are many fewer of them and well.....its not a scion badge up front.
You should have dropped by the dealership while you were out. It's rare that I get Nikki to talk about cars, unless it's a Miata.
Sounds like she was raving, not ranting
....so I don't know what a FRS is, but if figure if the SWMBO likes it then it must be an SUV.
...then I google FRS and become confused. I see Toyota and Subaru in the same sentence...
I'm still very confused, but that is a cool looking car!

Sunday evening otherwise yeah.

Yeah yeah, that's what I get for posting after taking migraine meds.

It's a blessing and a curse. Other than the dogs, we have no kids, and no plans for them anytime soon. "Therefore we don't need a 4 door, and she's not going to drive a "mommy" car till she needs one." Add to it I've been told that I can buy myself whatever I want, but don't expect her to drive it, if it has 4 doors or is a wagon.
Oh yeah, definitely no wagons.
Start looking in the used car venues. If you can pay cash or have cheap $$$ then they are starting to show up pretty regular.
It's a unique demographic of people that fall in love with the car and then find out that the lifestyle and reality of owning a sports-car is not all its dreamed up to be. Under the same banner is the kid who is getting tired of his entire life going to insurance and car payments. They HAD to have the car now they HAVE to get rid of it.
Good deals to be had from these people since they really need to move on. It's a fact that the more passionate you were to obtain something, the more eager you will be to get rid of it once it no longer pleases you.
LOL I LOVE my miata, it's not even running and I have no desire to get rid of it. But I get where you're coming from. When I was 20 I was paying almost 1100 a month for my FD, 500 a month in car payments, and 600 a month to insure it. Any wonder why I gave it up after about 9 months?
