It's Fords brand name for their small displacement turbo engines that replace a v6 or v8 engine option

direct injection + turbo.

DI allows higher compression ratios for turbos, so, theoretically, they are more efficent, and better throttle response. Current ones also have dual variable cam timing as well.

It's not perfect, but no where near what I was worried about 7 years ago when I started working on them.

Anything specific you want to know about them?

the same thing that the direct injected turbocharged Ecotecs did in the Cobalt SS and Solstice GXP- make it go moar faster...

Don't forget the Mazderp DISI..... I have a feeling Ford cribbed a LOT of notes for this before the split.
