I tried to give away my SeaRay and only one person expressed interest but I haven't heard boo from him.
So I took a picture of it and went to a local Marina. Apparently they are selling for about $12,000 according to book value.
with only one picture they offered me $4000 for it.
One less hole in your wallet gone Frenchy! Whatcha gonna do with the 4k?
To have a professional SBC swap done costs about $20,000. And that's using a crate motor. Nothing as powerful as a v12.
If EFI scares you, and I'll admit it looks scary. He simple solution s to remove t he EFI and replace it with the earlier carbs.
Since they are more simple than lawn mower carbs it's extremely easy to do. But together 4 of them flow more air than a Holley dominator.
Ok so I guess I'll cancel our trip.
Bummer!
I don't know what went wrong there. Several calls, an email that was responded to, a follow up email, then radio silence.
Oh well, I have a busy life and appreciate the extra weekend now.
Glen will be bummed but he will get over it.
This is like the "free TV" scenario. Try to give away a free TV and no one wants it. Put it out by the road in front of your house "TV - $50" and it will be stolen in less than 24 hours.

Am I getting this right, that you and a friend were supposed to go pick up the boat, as offered for free. Then OP went silent once he figured out he could get some money for it?
No you don't have it right.
I offered a boat for free. Someone said he placed a dibs on it subject to approval. It then sat for almost a month with nobody saying anything.
Almost a month later I went to pick up our Pontoon. I asked them . They informed me one recently had sold for $12,000. They offered me $4000 for it based on the picture I used here.
That was about 8:30 AM
About 10:00 AM I got a note here about tire sizes. Etc.
But still no I'm taking it at such and such a time.
I understand. I've lost deals because I delayed too.
In reply to frenchyd :
Yup. I've been guilty of that myself. You either have to E36 M3 or get off the pot.

Same. I've learned a lot about myself from some things I let slip by.

GRM'ers are excluded from this around my world. If someone here steps up and says they're in, they're in until I hear otherwise. Sounds like communication was attempted on multiple channels?
I check my EMail several times a day and while my phone is silent when driving I'd have a record.
As I've said. I've lost deals through inaction. Apparently so have others.
Since he hadn't made the trip or bought tires, he's out nothing. Except a really good deal.
