THE ANSWER IS NOT MIATA!!!

put in nearly 95 miles today, and the car on Wintersport 3Ds did great in the deep stuff (for this area) that we got today...outside D.C.

Only got stuck once, and it was on mile 94.9 of the day, trying to turn around in my unplowed cul-de-sac. Got high-centered.../story

Me too. My Subie is wanting to go tear up some snow covered parking lot, and all we're getting is flurries.

12+" here.... my suby ('95 2.2) did make it to and from work this morning though it tried to high center itself a couple of times..

I kind of wish I had a Subaru and a need for one.

I saw my first modded late-model WRX sedan, and I kind of liked it.

Edit: Just found this concept drawing, the STi REALLY should have been the sedan:

totally agree, and I would have bought the STi as a sedan, but didn't want a hatch.

though that tail has to go. I much prefer my lip spoiler....

I would have liked the STi's LSDs today though...open diffs were my bane when I got stuck..

As I have said many times, I am a big Subaru fan. It's one of the few cars that is equally at home at an autocross, rallycross or ripping through the snow.

wintersport 3Ds make the probe a winter warrior, so i imagine they're all kinds of sweet with AWD.

not sure why people hate the hatch so much. aside from the aweful clear tails.

Personally, I hate it because of what a departure from the previous STi it is. The old STi was juvenile, taut, and aggressive. The new hatchy is too grown up. An STi is not a mature car, it shouldn't look like one.

It's the love. It's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru, you know.

Heh.

And the aforementioned reasons are why I'm never likely to own a new car ever again. Every new car in my radar has gotten too grown up. The ms3, the Cooper, The STi, the Evo, all "adult" cars now. And I refuse, REFUSE, to buy a Cavbalt.

Ontopic, pics like that make me miss my DSM. I couldn't get that car stuck if I wanted to.

At least you can find your car. The dang snow up here is getting a bit out of hand. I have never driven a subi in the snow. Must make a note to add that to the to do list. Always seemed to go straight to big 4x4 trucks.

Anyways... ;) It is funny, because the sedan WRX has TERRIBLE sales figures in Canada, because as everyone knows, its ugly. Of course, Canadians have always had more european taste in cars I truly would have desired a STi version of any of the WRX hatches from 02-07, but the new STi is definitely aggressive enough for me. However, I'd still pick up a 06/07 because they look amazing and can be had for $25K used rather than $50K off the lot .

We've only got a couple of inches ,so far, but I was out this morning drifting all over town in my Miata. It will high center before a Suby, but until it does it's a riot in the snow.

"Snow hates you" Yup, truth. The last time I drove in snow was 1977. 6' in my front yard, 4' in the back, 10*. Drove from Youngstown Ohio to Miami. It snowed in Miami the day I got there. I hate snow.

Hate it back. Think BIG 4X4 crushing it chewing it up and spitting it out. Make me get all warm and fuzzy.

Just took the snow blower for a spin we have about 7 inches with 2-5 still to come. I think I am going to make up some reason to go out so i can take the truck for a spin. Just put new tires on it yesterday and need to "test" them.

I was out and about in the Ti... with the almost down the wearbars in rear RE050s.. getting going is a challenge.. but once rolling I was fine. Amazing how people do not know how to react when a car gets a little squirrelly. I was more than able to get the rear under control but nobody would get within ten carlengths of me.. aside from one idiot in an SUV who was riding my bumper for a mile until he finally blew by me in a hurry

i love snow. unfortunately, my summer-tire-shod RX-8 does not.

but my wife's CX-7 plowed right through 17" of fresh powder on my street with no issues, even on almost-dead all-seasons. all wheel drivez = fun, fun, fun.

I did, of course, had to take the "family vehicle" out today as well into a lot of fresh pow-pow...

My measurement of snow depth in this lot was just over 20" .. the Subie would not have made it very far.

Rear is sitting on a lot divider....It's not jacked-up redneck-style....
