The Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational is going to be broadcast on SPEED this weekend, and repeated a few times around the holidays. If you've got a Pro-Touring itch or just like to see Musclecars (both old and new) in motion, it's definitely worth checking out.
The OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational will air on the SPEED Channel:
• Sunday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. ET
• Monday, Dec. 20 at 8 a.m. ET
• Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. ET
• Thursday, Dec. 30 at 2 a.m. ET

I don't want to spoil your viewing experience by telling you who won, but they were at the 2010 UTCC. Hopefully they'll be back in 2011 and have a little more mechanical luck. 
The Orange 68 Camaro from the cover of the July 2010 issue of Classic Motorsports was also competing at the Ultimate Street Car Invitational.

Sounds like we are entering the yearly "Speed is good" period... which seems to last from Dec through early Feb until the Daytona 500 nears.
We'll probably notice Aussie Touring Cars soon as well.
They show Austrailian V8 Supercars about a week or two after the actual race, my DVR is full of em.
Awesome stuff.

Ian, the Aussie V8's have been showing on Speed for several months now. They're on a two week delay from the original race date. IIRC, you might even be able to watch an event this Sunday (12/19) afternoon.
Check your tv listings and enjoy!
The Speed is good period is only after Nascar closes it's doors for the year.

Well, I guess that's Speed's problem nowadays... I don't even bother looking anymore...
I just watched the recording of Optima's Ultimate Street Car and it was some darn good tv. I would have liked to see more shots of the fairlane (old magazine project car?) and the chevelle wagon. But I'm just a fan of the oddballs.
Just watched a V-8 Supercar race, one World Touring Car from Spa, and the second one is starting now.

Watched it last night and I did really enjoy it - could have been 1/2 hour longer and contained a little more info about the cars and all that, though.
Steve and I were talking about this today too. I loved the event and the cars, but the coverage could have been better. Still the best thing I've seen on Speed in a while.
I'd love to get into that event with the turbo Miata. My 238 horspower would likely be the lowest in the competition, but I bet it would finish on the top half of the results list.
