Something went wrong

Unsure why, "something went wrong", can GRM staff explain??? 

I'm getting that error too, whenever I login and on certain threads. 

Yeah it looks like we're having some issues with the back end of the website. I'm getting in touch with the devs now to try and get everything running smoothly again.

Update: The devs found an issue with some users' avatars being a file type that the site doesn't support anymore (specifically BMP), but they were kind enough to flip a switch to allow that file type again.

I recommend clearing your cache and logging out and then back into the site. If that doesn't fix the issue or you need further assistance, just let me know.

Getting the "something went wrong" error for some pages.  Logged out and could see them, logged back in and the error is back.  Grumble.

Edit: and this will show up twice in 5 minutes because I got the error when I tried to post my thoughts.

same here.  it's only certain threads.  for instance, the formula 1 thread, "my new miata", AAZCD's organization thread etc.  Seems reasonable it would be related to certain users in certain threads, if the BMP format is what's screwing things up.  But also, a lot of the front page content suffers from the same message.  The Aluminum welding feature, the "How did today's motorsports scene...", and Tim's rear end (*chortle*) don't work, either.   But JG's "enablers assemble" thread, or David's Porsche Car Cover on a Miata one, or the Russian Invasion (there are others that work too) work fine.  The newly posted European Oils feature works too.

Also, since the issue was identified and updates were made, if you're still getting the error remember to clear your cache and log back into the site. All should be good then.
