A good friend of mine is set to inherit a 2004 Acura TL from his mother. The car is in really good shape, but has 220k miles on the stock auto, and it has started to slip (original trans and supposedly fluid )
Anyone have any experience with sourcing a rebuild? I know it's a known problematic transmission, and there are multiple sources online, but I've heard horror stories and I'd hate for him to have to eat the labor cost multiple times (he won't be doing the R&R himself)
He knows it's going to cost him a few k to get it done (likely same as what the car is worth) but it's a way nicer car than his current ride, and he drives only ~2,000 miles per year. So the car should last him awhile
