Source for Metric Bolts?

Does anyone sell a good combo type pack that provides several standard size metric nuts and bolts?

Edit: just realized this was my first post. I'm a SCCA club racer and building a FP Miata.

McMaster Carr is the absolute E36 M3! They have every type of fastener known to man in quantities of 25 or more a pack. Fortunately they are pretty reasonable price wise.

grr... I had a BIG bucket of bolts from all the old bolts from parting out a few mr2s and a volvo... weighed a ton but always had the correct sized metric bolt...

in one of our moves I got rid of it because I hand't done anything with project car stuff for a few years... I still regret that move :(

They ship from Edison, NJ too so what I order at 4PM today will be here at 10am tomorrow.

My local Farmers co op has a large supply of metric and they are locally owned and operated. guess I'm spoiled.

My Ace Hardware has never let me down yet..

Give us a call at Flyin' Miata. We can ship you a good Miata-specific combo pack from our salvage section.

I get my metric stuff from dismantled Miatas. No surprise there. But if I have to go further, we have a local store called Fasteners, Inc that has a lot of stuff on hand. Right across the street from Fastenal. And the Ace hardware by my house has an admirably good collection.

This may come as a bit of a shock, and also dependent on your local dealer & their price (or gouge) structure, but BMW hardware is very inexpensive to purchase.

Absolutely true for anyone within a reasonable distance from Toledo's Yark BMW dealer (on Central Ave, near US-23/I-475).

I've turned a few Ferrari owners on to buying their hardware from BMW. Using an ETK/EPC (electonic parts catalog) you can get into the tables of diameter/pitch, length and special features (like shoulder bolts, etc.).

meh..... I need new driveshaft bolts and the local dealer wants $5.70 APIECE! Though he usually drops it down a bit when I bitch, lol....especially when he hears I'm working on an e30 318, so I must be poor and pathetic, lol. The list prices are anything but inexpensive for nuts and bolts and small things, at least.

Oh, and the nuts for them are $3.50 each.

I'm going to the local fastenal tomorrow. It's been 1/2 mile from where I work for almost 10 years and never knew about it until yesterday...grrr....so many days waiting for parts from Pelican, McMaster, etc.....wasted.

they stock some combinations of thread pitch/length/strength that fastenal told me would take a week to get.

1.25 pitch on a 14mm? no problem. 80mm long? no problem. 10.9 grade? sure.

For anything bigger than 12mm the place to go is your local John Deere dealership. They have quality bolts in appropriate grades for auto use and are pretty reasonable on price. And you know they must do a good job of it to get this Farmall guy in the door.

If you can wait a day, though, McMaster is awesome.

This is the outfit that I use. I have seen their truck dropping packages at FedEx.

Here's one I have been hunting for a while: M10 x 1.25 pitch x 40 mm thread length in socket (Allen) head. I has Googled till my Googler's sore and I keep coming up empty handed. (BTW, that one in 1.5 pitch is common as dirt.) It's headlight bolts for the tracker. Everything else is stainless SHCS except for those.

Fastenal is pretty much the only source for 10X1.25 socket head cap screws.

I too looked for ever and started to listen to vendors telling me it doesn't exist but found them at fastenal. They weren't cheap and it took them 2 weeks to get them.

Trying to build wheel adapters for a german car? That is the only time I have ever needed them. 4X100 to 5X130 to bolt porsche wheels to VW's.

These are to mount the headlight on the street tracker, I have two regular ol' plated bolts in there now and I am just waiting for one to rust and stain the paint. All the other stuff is already S/S Allen head. Looks like they might also have the right length for my rear lower shock mounts as well!

EDIT: Nope, Fastenal's site keeps bumping me to 1.5 coarse pitch. Dammit. The hunt goes on.

Aircraft Spruce can also be very useful. Caters to the homebuilt aircraft community, but they've got some really neat selections of NAS and AN hardware. We buy a ton of stuff from there for FSAE.

As noted, depends on the dealer (and your relationship with them...). I rarely spend $5.00 when buying bags of twenty (20) studs/bolts! As an example, the driveshaft bolts/nuts for an ///M Rdstr are $1.28/.68 each (@ driveshaft/differential flange). They must see you coming ;) ;)
