Have a 2001 Miata, looking for 15 or 16 inch wheels, relatively light, mainly for boring street driving. I know we've done this before but I can't find the threads. Who are the good aftermarket sources to look at style options, preferably with decent details like weight. I know Tire Rack and Discount Tire. Who else?
There's a company called Flyin' Miata that has a few options :)

Amazon has 15" Motegi MR116's for that application at $76 a wheel. Steel wheels in the 50's but I doubt that's what you want, and there's probably another wheel that fits fine for less. Looks like 18Racing is selling Rota's through Amazon, not sure if they're well priced, but at least that avenue exists. Sorting tools on Amazon's site are kind of garbage for this, like a lot of things... Amazon is also a decent way to get well priced tires. I rolled together steel wheels and snow tires for my SX4 via Amazon purchases and I think I ended up around $120 a corner before mount/balance at a local shop.
I'd always check CL first for whatever is out there in a 4x100. Sometimes the deals are there to be had, sometimes not.
Good-Win Racing sells a decent selection of wheels.
Also amazing when you show up to a track day and meekly mention how "I really need a set of wheels for a Miata".

QFT. They also seem to change vendors/brands/styles quite often, so there always seem to be interesting "clearance" deals.

FM is always a go-to. Good-win is currently selling a couple of lightweight Konig styles at very good prices, with free shipping.

Evasive Motorsports also has a pretty huge selection, although it's not just explicitly for Miatas, so you kinda have to sort through sizes and bolt patterns
949 Racing doesn't have a huge variety, but they specialize in delivering light weight but strong cast wheels at good prices.
949 6UL is what I would be looking at. I believe FM sells them along with GWR, 949, etc.
I'd recommend a 15x7" wheel for your purposes. You can run 205/50/15 or 195/50/15 on that size. Plenty of good suggestions for wheels so far. I really like the Konig Dial-In, good specs and it looks good too.
Wish I could sell you my 15x7" PCWs and get myself some 15x8 Dial-Ins...

Is there a reason we are dancing around Tire Rack?

Not a very good one, but their selection isn't great and you may have to trick them into thinking you're buying wheels for a kit car to order a non-factory size. They're an OK place to buy wheels online, but they don't stand out among the other options.
In reply to NOHOME:
The OP specifically asked for wheel sources other than Tire Rack and Discount Tire.

I got my beloved set of 15x8 Jongbloeds from you guys. Wish I'd had the foresight to buy a set of 15x10s to squirrel away for the future.

How do you get it to do that? I've always been frustrated that tire rack won't let you see all the sizes of wheels that they carry.

I've never ordered directly from them but I hear people call them on the phone and order wheels and tires "for a kit car."
FYI, Flyin' Miata has more 6ULs in stock than anyone else. We're also the only ones that sell them with tires installed.
We're also a Tire Rack dealer, so we can get you oddball fitments that TR might not otherwise list. Same price as if you bought from TR.

Jongbloed, that burns me up. I'm the one that put them in touch with Bill from FM and never received what I was promised.
I'll never support that company again.

I'm not sure we ever got several tens of thousands of our money back. That was not a happy escapade for anyone involved. At least they were cheap when they showed up because they were so overweight.
If you were promised a set of wheels, drop me a line.

Ouch. I knew there was some issues, but I wasn't aware it was that screwed up. Pity, because they are nice wheels. One of mine got a bad rock chip or something that took a small chunk out of the spokes though, and sourcing a replacement is difficult.
What about other sources? I have a desire to get some wheels for either the Galaxie (1965 convertible) or the Ranchero (1978 beast mode) at some point in the nearish future and other than Jegs and similar don't know where to look for classic non-donk or Resto-mod wheels. I would like something in a 17 or 18 that doesn't look ridiculous and doesn't cost $300 a wheel. I am tempted to just get some 17" Soft 8s and call it a day. Hope this isn't too much of a thread jack.

Summit racing sells more wheel styles than any other website I've seen. Plus you can actually sort by size.

Did not know this.....filing away as mental note for the future!
