I received an email notification today regarding an upcoming SCCA event in May at "South Georgia Motorsports Park". Having never heard of that facility before, I checked out their website (http://racesgmp.com/index.da) and see that it is a drag strip and 1/2 mile oval.
Has anyone been to this track? I'm curious how the facility is and how an auto-x event will turn out when hosted there.
Whay you been at, mang!? There have been a couple-few national tours and divisionals there. It's a great layout IMO, and (so I'm told) even better now that they've lenghtened the parking lot. Plan on up-shifting more than once.
Yeah - Awesome facility and the folks in Dixie Region do a good job putting on events.
There is, however, no blue wall to highlight kawa berkeleying sake green paint.
Yup, big parking lot, pretty nice site. In a deserted area though so bring plenty of supplies.
Great site. I've run there a couple of times; at Dixie Nationals where I diffled, and Axis vs. Allies (held on December 7th, if you get the connection) and actually took a P2 trophy in street mod. The lot is HUGE, first time I'd ever used 3rd gear at an autocross; when you're driving a Neon around a corner at 70 MPH, and the back end starts to come around, it does a lot for your adreniline level.Great people, nice region, strong competition, and if the consession stand is open, the guy cooking your french fries owns the whole shebang (not just the stand, but the track). Seriously grassroots.

Sounds like a lot of fun and it's only ~2 hours from Gainesville!
Sounds like the remnants of the Hogtown Speed Shop crew need to plan a trip!

Well, in theory, in the not to distant future, we should have two running track cars!
