If you had the money, what new exotic would you buy? I personally give my left nut for a new Lambo Murcielago. Now normally, I think I could buy a whole bunch of other cars for the cost of one of these exotics. But around the Lambo my pants get a lot tighter.

I'm simple. I'll take an Elise and the leftover money.
Porsche GT2 RS.
Is that considered an Exotic, though?

I saw three gallardos on the way down to the challenge - yellow with a glass roof, silver one and orange. Jaw dropper of a car in person.

Whatever Zonda is on sale this week or perhaps the latest Koenigsegg.
And to be honest, I want a top that comes off, because paying that kind of money to be sealed in 100% of the time seems almost criminal. Plus I want to have a better shot at hearing the thing.
I would have to say a 458 Italia.
Aston Martin, but I'm biased.

The only problem is at least to me the bady Lambo doesn't make my jaw drop the way the big Lambo does.

Countach. I really don't care what Clarkson has to say about them.
Also Daytona Spyder and 300sl Gullwing.

Does anyone take Clarkston seriously anymore? (or ever?) lol
Love the Countach as well. As a child of the 80's it's my original dream car. I could give a rat's ass if it doesn't measure up to a proper Ferrari.
Give me one in white so I can grow a 'stache, mullet, and wear aviators. Matching white blazer and neon mesh shirt optional (I'm too hairy).
My countach story...
late 70s - henry hudson pky(in NY), traffic.... countach with engine lid up, guy changing spark plugs what a bucket of crap

If you can stomach it a used big lambo 2-3 years older then the baby is about the same price.

Brand new: a new M-B Gullwing if I wanted to keep the other half happy... a Superformance GT-40 otherwise - moreso than any other current exotic, those make me swoon...
Late model: McLaren F1 ...or mabye a Ford GT if I didn't want to worry about mileage limits...
Classic: tough... probably either a late 50's/early 60's Ferrari roadster or a D-Type.

I like the way you think because that's exactly my choice, too.

I like the Superformance GT-40 idea quite a bit, nice catch.

True story...a buddy has an '06 Murci. He bought it because it was low-mileage and a deal. He has spent $65k on it since!
Most recently...the flappy paddles quit working. Flat bed trip to the Lambo dealer in Miami and an $11k bill. Ouch.
As I haven't driven anything that remotely qualifies as an exotic (other than an '88 Fiero GT, which I didn't drive in anger), so I can't say for certain, but I'd lean towards a Ford GT or Saleen S7, maybe a DeTomaso Pantera. I'd have to give a long look at a Superformance Daytona Coupe, too.
The Italians don't do much for me. I think I'd rather have an RS6 wagon (or CTS-V wagon) than any Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Either a jag xke coupe, mercedes 6.9er euro model, or a 500e. These cars can be found and kept alive. You can keep some of the crazy suggestions.
There is a superferformance sales room in Redwood city off of El camino. Those are really cool cars. I went in and talked to the guys, I guess they make the car bodies in south africa which is interesting. The guy in the shop was kind of a dork and he didn't like the mention of factory 5 kits.
A guy with a Countach stopped by our Open House a few years ago. He was absolutely mobbed by all the Miata owners. Fun guy, too. This was at the peak of the (last) gas cost spike, and he had his 8 mpg window sticker with him - which he thought was hilarious.
But since the original question was "what new exotic", I'd go for an Alfa 8C. It sounds as good as it looks. And it looks goooooood.
For track use, 911 GT3 RS in orange. But it's not as exotic as a limited production, gorgeous Alfa Romeo.

Or better yet the Hennessy Venom GT
Basically a Lotus Exige with twin turbo LSX
Spyker C8 Aileron.

If I had to pick a new car that would be my choice as well. I'd rather have the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 that just sold at auction, though.
If we are talking true exotics, I would have to say the new Ferrari GTO. Thing is beautiful. AND fast.
