2nd issue after their redesign this year, and it's even more boring. They took out what little appealed to the local guys like regional news and events, SOLO/rallycross coverage, etc. Now if you aren't a Club Racer, the magazine is in the recycle bin in 10 minutes.
YMMV, am I the only one that thinks that? (I admit even before the changes it didn't have a lot of appeal to me)
It takes you 10 minutes to get it to the recycle bin? Mine only spends about 30 seconds between the mailbox and recycling.

I love that magazine.
When my kids need to cut out pictures to use in school projects, I can whip out my box of Sportscar and know that nothing of value will be lost! I'm certainly not going to let them attack a GRM issue with their plastic scissors!
I like to look at the pretty pictures

I just started getting those, and I gotta say it was fairly underwhelming next to GRM. Of course, everything is underwhelming compared to GRM.

Sometimes they have a pretty picture of a red Miata in the dirt I stare at longingly.
Wait, they printed a picture of that in Sportscar? Maybe I threw it away too fast.
either way, more car literature is a good thing in my book. I'm keeping mine on my bookshelf next to my expanding GRM collection. I wonder what 1 of every available GRM back issue that I don't have yet would cost...
One of the many reasons I am no longer an SCCA member.

This.
On a somwhat related note, NASA Speed News magazine is VERY good. It's the only digital magazine I read -- but only because I don't have the choice of getting it in print.

Be more eco-friendly, that's what Speedhunters.com is for

I remember one issue of Sportscar had a big cover blurb about "How to choose springs" for your racecar. Okay, I'll read that, I thought. "Choosing springs is hard, and you should do so carefully" was about as technical as the article got.
I no longer even read them when they come. Straight into the recycling.

I read that and the ads … then recycle
What is -25% of zero? it's still zero.
So in reality, Sportscar mag is as relevant as it's ever been. Wish they'd do away with it an lower my SCCA dues.....

For a while, I was getting 3 copies every month - 1 for me, 1 for elder daughter who is also a member, and 1 for younger daughter following a Street Survival First Gear membership.
I'm convinced that the "car guys/gals" have left the building at that place. I could say the same thing about the Roundel. Randy Pobst and Rob Siegel are the first/mostly last thing I read in both of them.
Glad I'm not the only one!
Now don't get me wrong, I loved SCCA racing when we did it a few years back. The local people in our region were incredible. It was fun to hang out after the races on Saturday night.
Step 1: Look for Tire Rack ad,check out tire sizings available for different models, also wheel sizings available
Step 2: Look for the Rallycross advertisement, see if I recognize the car in it (So far they have been re-using the heck out of Ken Cashion's Civic, but ZB's Golf has been in there a bunch
Step 3: Check GLDiv report for anything interesting
Step 4: Set in pile of SportsCars, which are segregated from other magazines because other magazines tend to be re-read
(My car WAS in SportsCar. Once.)
I don't even bother looking at the divisional reports. With WDC being part of the Northeast Region, we get totally ignored in favor of regions that are actually IN the Northeast part of the country, other than when there's a race at Summit Point. I think we were the 2nd-highest-attended rallycross division in the country, with arguably the best venue this side of the Rockies last year, and I don't recall our division ever being so much as mentioned in the divisional reports (though I may have missed it).
My rule with the mag is that if it has a Miata on the cover, it's immediately to the trash can (sorry, tired of seeing Miatas on the cover). If it has something unusual on the cover, I may open it to see if there's actually an article about said cool car (usually, there isn't).
I think the thing with divisional reports is, if you want something reported, somebody has to report it. The SCCA doesn't have an All-Knowing Overmind, you gotta knock together some sort of summary.

Divisional reports are gone. The redesign got rid of them.

I walked in to my friend's house while I was in high school. They were watching a badly dubbed Chinese movie. One of the characters was carrying paper versions of a dead person's things to a funeral ceremony. One of the character's enemies played a trick on him and ended up setting everything on fire.
The guy eventually makes it to the funeral. "Where are the funeral offerings?"
"I saved time by burning them in advance!"
"Oh... good thinking!"
