What loads are you looking at Tony? Give me specs, we've got several at work.

Try Superior Spring in North Haven Connecticut. Used to be on state Street but I haven't been there in at least 10 years. Look in the yellow pages and give them a call.

I've seen people use those Weider home gyms for this and it works good. In fact I think they're a better spring tester than a exercise machine... :)

Springs in question are likely 160 lbs to 325lbs per inch. I'm told you load 1 inch before you start as the 1st inch is not linnier so need to go a second inch minium. so that said 650 lbs with 2 inch stroke.

My 30ton press has 3.4 inch stroke i just machined a hub to fit over the end with 1/2 deep resess to hold the spring and a 1 inch hole up the midlle so i can put in a saftey bar on the bottom i used a 3inch tall 4 inch od pipe so spring can't dance and kill me it also has a 1 inch hole for the bar to pass through....

Now i just need a lower psi gauge as 2000lbs of force is 435psi on the hydrolic line or so the sticker reads... thankfully i've got a few new springs that came with dyno sheets so i can use them as testers for the tester..

I have one set up specifically for 120mm M-256 recoil springs that I change over for your needs.

What exactly are the dimensions of the spring and the loads? I know 1.875 o/s diameter, sounds like 1.0" i/s and the first load at one inch of compression should be 160 - 325 lbs.

That sound about right?

Dan.

Spring i've got are 8 inches and 10 inches tall at rest. They vary from 100lbs per inch to 350lbs per inch. I've machined up the parts to adapt my hydolic press today and it seems to work okay. the 1st inch of compression is never right but compress a second inch and devide and I'm with in 8 lbs of the few stamped springs i have and with in 5 lbs of the new spring i had that came with a rate sheet.

so i think i'm good just got to figure out how to get the pictures out of my new phone........

Ya... Wife's been after me to get a new phone for 2 years...She hated the 5 min Epoxy holding in the antena but it worked...

I stuggled to find a phone just a phone...don't need all that other crap. I need a phone...hell half the time i want to toss it too. It must be impact duty... Ended up with a motorola tundra built to mill specs. so far its taken a 2 story fall down the stairs....bonce bounce bounce...
