Are there any 'body-on-frame' minivans? Some quick googling suggests that the ford aerostar and the chevy astrovan have frames 'integrated' into the unibody, so they are close but no dice. Of course a lot of full size vans are body on frame. Other ideas?
The Dustbusters were spaceframe based, if that helps. They are stupid light when stripped out (for a van), and had an option for a 3800. A GTP powered Dustbuster would be pretty neat.
I'm gonna be so disappointed if this doesn't result in at least one Molly Hatchet album cover worthy mural
Seems appropriate today, we'll miss you George

Ya, I could be talked into this.....
ARE FULL SIZED VANS ALLOWED TO COMPETE?
In reply to Robbie:
If it helps any I think the Astro is set up kinda like a really big 1/2 gen F body, frame up front bolted to a unibody tub.

If you can make it do this, I see no reason that you would be turned away. Heck, you would be heralded as a master of The Challenge which is praise that you have already earned.
Should the full size be allowed? I will first the motion that yes, they should be.
I am sure another genuine competitor will second the motion.
There has been enough support and enthusiasm for Dajibans already.
But, I do wonder, would an Astro van be lighter?
Bonus points if you can tow a second challenge car with your van.
In reply to Andy Neuman:
There is no way you could avoid getting into the magazine doing that.
In reply to Andy Neuman:
This was a topic of discussion with my team mate. Might still do it if I can find a suitable van next year closer to the challenge.

Bonus points for bringing another challenge car in the van
How much can a manual V6 odyssey tow, I wonder?
There should be a loophole that lets you sell ice cream out of it to recoup cost.....

Could tow a well sorted race fiero.
I vote for full size vans to be allowed.

That is exactly what we want to do. We have 2 trailers and one tow vehicle.

Challenge (for the Challenge) accepted. I just picked up a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina APV for $275. Build thread coming soon.

It makes me giggly to read this since I know too much based on what you told me last week. I see the wheels are in motion!
Oh, yes. The wheels are in motion. The van even runs under it's own power.

Take a full-size van, cut the top half off, throw lowering spindles up front and axle flip kit at the back....could probably lower the cg a good bit.
Sweet with Andrew, shawneecreeks and they Dajivan entry we are up to four. Not bad for two weeks post challenge.
I am fine with full size vans even though I think an Astro would be a better option. What is the ruling from the staff?
Can I flat tow a fiero? Hmm...

Team alavanche is rumored to be looking at a $600 astro van tomorrow morning. And also may have astro V8 swap mounts on the shelf, and.... Cart before horse, slow down.

Being a big supporter of all things vans, I feel like I need to be in Florida to witness this spectacle.
