The head unit in the truck stopped working last night. The display lights up, but wont take any input i.e. the buttons don't work. I had his happen before. I took the faceplate apart and I got it working again. Not this time.

Ebay has used faceplates for $24 or new ones for $37. I can get a whole new lower end unit from Soney, Pioneer, etc...for around $60-75. Is is worth the crap shoot of replacing the faceplate, assuming the problem is there and not internal? Or would you just put in a brand new one.

Will the 60-75ish leave you with a better stereo? Go with that...

A hundred gets you a pretty nice Alpine head unit these days on Amazon. I just put one in the RAV4. If you don't need a CD player, look for "mech-less."

It depends on how old the unit is. If it's 3+ years old and not a high end CD player, new ones should be the better buy.

Cheaper Sony Xplode. Probebly weighs a pound or 2 more from the dirt inside.
