I am hoping you can help me diagnose this problem before I senselessly throw more parts at it...

This isn't normally something I struggle with... but... well... I am hot and tired...... and well... enough already...

Bought the car with a softish brake pedal.. It stopped, but was concerning... So I replaced the master cylinder, new pads, rotors, ect.. all looked good with the calipers, ect.. No problems.. It bleeds fine and fluid was flushed. Seemed to work great... For a while...

.. The rears are not ice cold but I think the problem is in the front... They don't bind up completely.. just enough to be really annoying, and get things HOT!.

After the first time the brakes stuck I did new rubber lines on the front

That didn't help so I went through and unplugged all the ABS nonsense... One of the rings is missing from a front axle so I figured that could hurt nothing... Flushed fluid again and no problems at all with a vacuum bleeder.....

Normally stuff like this isn't over my head.. but... geez... Before I just throw more parts at it....

What would ya'll try next????

Caliper slides and or pistons corroded.

Do the sliders ride in rubber sleeves? Pull em out, there will be rust. You can also get rust under the SS shims on the caliper/bracket causing the pads to bind

Mis-adjusted master cylinder? If the linkage is adjusted too tight the slight expansion from heat will cause the master cylinder to slightly actuate and drag the brakes.

Get it to drag, loosen the nuts holding the master cylinder to the booster, and see if it still drags. should be able to do this on the road with a 13mm wrench/socket. Just a quick/easy check to rule out anything on the booster/vacuum/pedal linkage side.

a maladjusted master sounds like it most likely culprit! I had the feeling being hot, tired, and a bit ticked off about melting the new brakes was causing me to overlook something...

It was sticking when I parked it and free as could be this morning when I checked..

I will take a 13mm wrench and hit the road to confirm a little bit later!

THANKS!
