Hey,
Im looking to learn more about using vegetable oil as a fuel, not converting it to biodiesel. I was just wondering if anyone here has looked into that at all and could provide me with some information/sources. Im looking for any and all information.
Thanks

You wanna talk to Dr. Boost on here. He has probably a dozen threads on his 95ish Mercedes running on WVO (Waste Vegetable Oil), all titled something to the effect of "Living with a greasecar"
someone on here had a nice update on his SVO project
lots of info on youtube and the interwebs also...
I think the bigger concern with a greasecar is finding a good consistent fuel source... and then how you plan to process it (how you plan to filter it and remove/keep water out)

FYI, in case anyone knows of anything, I want to make a scooter running on WVO. Sure, there are a million reasons not to do it, but I want to. I guess that the biggest reason is there are no small diesel engines here in the US.

I think it would be difficult to run a scooter on WVO. The oil needs to be heated before the injection pump. Usually this is done with electric heaters or with a heat exchanger that is heated with engine coolant. I would imagine a scooter would not be able to produce enough amperage to operate electric heaters and I assume you would be running an air cooled engine. Maybe you could do a two tank system where you start the engine on diesel and use the exhaust to heat the WVO, then switch over to WVO when it is up to temp. You would need two tanks, valves, gauges, etc. a lot of stuff to fit on a scooter.
here is a good WVO specific forum: http://biodiesel.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/cfrm/f/898605551
