Not sure if it matters, but they were only badged like that in Europe.

someone needs to give me more AWESOME ideas...I think I need to build something that will clean up in SM.

But the Hyundai was available with multiple engines. It can come with the GEMA (joint Hyundai / Chrysler / Mitsubishi) engine or a Hyundai V6. Since the engine is a joint venture, shouldn't that allow engines from other partners in the venture in? And now that Dodge has gone to a non-production-based engine in the Sprint Cup, it's likely that the previous generation engine will be available for fairly cheap (for what you're getting, at least).

Swaps involving makes related only at a corporate level are not recognized as equivalents. Models produced as a joint venture between manufacturers may utilize any engine from any partner in the joint venture, provided that an engine from the desired manufacturer was a factory option in that particular model (e.g. Eagle Talon available originally with either a Mitsubishi or Chrysler engine, may use any motor from Chrysler or Mitsubishi). Now, I cannot remember, but wasn't the 914 sold as a VW at first? Or, at least powered by a Type 3 engine? Seems that it would be eligible before the merger happened.Close, it had the VW type 4 engine. So the answer is yes, you can use any VW or Porsche engine in a 914 and be street mod legal. Although I think there are some displacement rules for SM(it's been a long time since I looked), I always thought a 4.5l twin turbo V8 from a Cayenne in a 914 would be a ridiculously awesome SM car. Not to mention scary as hell.
My testes just shrunk and retreated thinking about that...

I doubt this would clean up, but it would CERTAINLY be different. And it IS awesome.
A VW Quantum Synchro wagon with your choice of the 5-cylinder 20v turbo Audi motor or the 2.7TT. Won't get slammed hard on the lbs/litre rule, and HP maximum is pretty much whatever you want. You want 900+awhp? Sure.
Plus. It's a damn wagon. Add box flares for division by zero.
Wait! Time out! I have the makings of a STUPID SM car in my signature!
My Escort is REALLY a Protege... Which is a Mazda. It's powered by mazda on a Mazda chassis.
Sooo... i could dump the motor from the MX6 into it, and use the transfer case and rear diff from an AWD protege to make it AWD, right?
remember that any swap still has to be done w/in the other SM rules; this is one reason there are no SM-legal rotary miatas.

You are killing my buzz...explain why? The Miata is SM2 legal, as are rotaries up to 1.5 liter.

Division by zero has already occured.

Group A dump valve
300-400 HP depending on event.

Etc.
We are currently building three other rally cars. The first is an evolution version of the above Fox which will use a normally aspirated 30 valve V6 and 4wd, it will be driven by Jose M. Vicente with co-driver Eduardo Besada. The second is a Group 5 VW Gti that will use a turbocharged 2.0L 8v engine. The third is a Group 2 VW Gti 16 valve. The latter two will be used mainly for the SCCA North East Club rally championship.
I realize that this is a zombie thead back from the dead, but the Lincoln Mark VII came with a BMW engine from the factory and is Fox Body...
I read some of these suggested swaps and wonder if some of you guys have ever actually read the Street Mod rules... Specifically 16.1.P.

Well bugger me, that diesel version, I always forget about that. That has to be the unicorn amongst unicorns. I’ve never seen one.

I've seen a grand total of one.

I've seen one in a junkyard. I was really puzzled for a while.
But I'm not sure I could think of a BMW motor that would top a Coyote V8 for SM potential.

I would agree though, especially in something as big and heavy as a Mark VII.
Though this has interesting potential:
I wouldn't compare Porsche and Volkswagen when it comes to performance. Cars still have their own accuracy and i think it still depends on their parts how will they perform. Porsche Parts and Volkswagen parts are really good,

I read somewhere that the Veyron engine, all by it's lonesome, weighs more than 1,000 lbs.
